I was curious so I bought a bag of Blackbeard's Delight. It's supposedly dark roast which I prefer.
Kinda disappointed truthfully. It's not as dark as I thought it would be even though the grinds are very dark.
The taste isn't there either. I normally drink Folgers Gourmet Supreme and it tastes better than the Black Rifle stuff.
I have yet to try Death Wish coffee. Should I try that or just stick with what I normally drink?
My purpose with the coffee is to see if there's a blend I might like more than Folgers. I don't do anything like chemex, French press or anything like that. Bunn coffee maker, that's it.

One thing you might want to try is cleaning your coffee machine with vinegar or better yet a descaler powder like Urnex. If your machine is getting mineral deposits then it won't get as hot and all coffee will lose flavor since brewing temp 295-205 is one of the keys to a perfect cup of coffee.

I picked up a few varieties of BR prior to Christmas. My preference is medium roast, and I buy whole beans then right before brewing (Technivorm) I run them through my Conical burr grinder.

So far, I've tried the:
  • Thin Blue Line. I had family in for the holidays and we all enjoyed it (they normally drink Dunkin Doughnuts).
  • Just Black. Just as good at Thin Blue Line but no proceeds go to law enforcement.
  • Just Decaf. Best tasting decaf I remember.

I'm looking forward to trying the two remaining bags:
  • Coffee or Die
  • AK-47

I just placed an order for Murdered Out. Says it's extra dark and strong so I'll see in about a week or so.

Thanks Todd. Coffee is still pretty hot when it comes out but it probably wouldn't hurt.

On the opposite end of the spectrum I have not historically been a coffee drinker but have started drinking a cup each morning of their Gunship roast. It’s their lightest roast; coupled with enough cream and sugar and I’m slowly turning the corner.

Maybe by the time I’m 60 I’ll be able to drink a cup of black coffee.

I know you're looking for dark roast (which I prefer as well), but their medium roast Just Decaf is dang good. Since I want to continue to DRASTICALLY cut my Walmart spending, I ditched their crap decaf and don't mind spending a little more to support these gents.

When a good friend left to work elsewhere I got him a bag of Caffeine & Hate as a going away present. He wasn’t a gourmet coffee person, just a simple strong, black and hot type. He loved the Black Rifle coffee and it was listed as a medium roast.

Their coffee is pretty decent though I've only had a few of their types. I can say from experience the big brown is pretty dark and strong.

Is where I buy my coffee from. I can’t speak for their dark roasts because I prefer a light roast coffee but I would imagine it’s pretty good stuff. I always buy whole bean and grind it myself.

I also like that it helps shelter dogs.

I’ve had a couple of bags and it’s not bad. But my favorite is still 100% Kona from Maui Coffee Company.

Slight thread drift - if you're in the Albuquerque area in about a month, the annual Southwest Chocolate and Coffee Festival is being held March 21-22. I found my now-favorite coffee there last year - VM Roasters (ABQ) Ethiopian. My second-favorite is Last Frontier Coffee Co. Terlingua Blend, which I've only ever found in Terlingua TX (Big Bend area).

Thus the metric system did not really catch on in the States, unless you count the increasing popularity of the nine-millimeter bullet.

I enjoy “lighter” coffees and my favorite is BRC Silencer Smooth. Good stuff.

    Yup.
Its pretty funny, and frustrating, hearing guys whine and talk-shit, after trying one type of bean or, having a single interaction with one of their employees. One chance to impress me type of attitude, not even thinking they're a small business, owned by veterans, who are bucking the trend of morality preaching corporate entities.

I buy Black Rifle Coffee on WOOT.COM when I see it offered.Good way to try the different blends.
Usually close outs in K-cup and bags.
I have not experienced any grinds I did not enjoy.

Peet’s is typically a very dark roast.

    Too much for me personally

I tried a sampler a few months ago, and, I like you, prefer dark roast coffee. I also found Blackbeard's Ghost to be disappointing, I liked Murdered Out the best of the lot, and it was decent. I still prefer my Peet's coffee.
