My son has a thing for buying clothes, especially t-shirts. He hangs them up in his closet. There are so many that you can barely stick your hand in between them. Every day he asks if I can order a new t-shirt or sometimes a pair of Pittsburgh sports shorts.

He's got too many already and he wants more. He works for his money but we're getting into obsession territory.

Any suggestions for something else he can collect and spend his money on?

Keep in mind he's autistic so I do have to guide his decisions.

What about precious metals? It is something tangible he could collect and at least would have some monetary value. Silver is pretty cheap still.

Wait till he starts with wanting more and more pairs of shoes. Enjoy the t-shirt phase.

Coins? God I could go down that rabbit hole. I sold a collection left to me because ..... God I could go down that rabbit hole.

Small foot print, history, tangible, unique, doesn’t have to be pricy to get fun stuff, you could share the hobby.

Pens?

Stocks.

Buy stocks in companies that are good at what they do.

Set up an account with a company like Motif that lets you buy fractional shares, and let him do the research regarding the stock picks.

I don't think he'd enjoy coins or stamps like I used to. He has a few comic books and he LOVES music. Hmm, maybe get him a decent turntable and start him on vinyl. That's a great idea.

As a minor, I don't think he can open his own brokerage account and make trades. He'd have to have you do it for him.

He's 21 but I have guardianship.

I know someone who collects license plates. He has plates, old and newer, from all over the US and a few from Europe.

It's not a hobby that will return an investment, but it could be fun to try and collect plates from all the states you guys have been to or plates from places y'all would like to visit.

I have a family member who collects Case knives. Lots of variety and availability with Case or other pocketknives.

You're asking a gun forum what to suggest someone spend their money on? Isn't the answer obvious?

T-shirts seem about as harmless as anything could be.

Stamps or coins could take up less space. You aren't going to be getting anything with real value, so I doubt it would affect any benefits.

For my son, it's sneakers. He has several pair. He works at an adidas outlet store, where he gets huge discounts on all adidas gear.

I recently got him into Stash, an app for investing in stocks. He has really gotten interested, and likes watching his investment. He will be joining the Air Force when he graduates high school in a few months. He is already talking about investing his basic training pay.

Rocks. I am sure that in your line of work you find plenty. We do not have rocks where we live. At least not many. Pennsylvania has lots. Marbles are fun too.
