I did go with Costco. Got a Standard SUV for $835 including taxes and fees. I also talked with my insurance agent and he still recommended getting the extra insurance. With the Costco membership I think I will still be under the Expedia price by about $100. Thanks for all the info!

Costco offers additional rental car insurance:



This would only be an additional $100. Is there any reason I shouldn't get this and not opt for whatever the car rental shop will offer?

I'd take the Costco insurance. You're renting thru Costco and chances are this is a one time thing so pay a bit extra for peace of mind and convenience.

Be aware than when you rent through a third party (Costco) that if you have any issue with getting a car on-site, the rental company isn't going to be a lot of help. They'll usually tell you to take it up with Costco.

It is also less likely that you'd get a free upgrade, since you aren't really the customer...it's a lot like booking a hotel rooms through a third party

Find a car driving service, one that needs a car to go to FL or maybe Indy, and one from Indy to FL, get paid to drive it there, just lay off the bennies...
