I have noticed a new payment option for some bigger ticket items.
5 monthly payments the 5 payments equal the same price if you were to pay once up front.
I am not seeing any ryhme or reason to which products are offering this option.

Intriguing. Do you still get the 5% rewards if you pay for it that way with an Amazon-linked CC?

Have no idea I have not selected the option. I am guessing so it would just be spread over the 5 months.

If I were a financial firm I would fear the day they wake up to:

Amazon starts own bank

or

Amazon starts investment firm

its coming.

The Walton family (of Walmart fame) owns Arvest Bank, the third largest privately owned bank in the country.

Sam Walton, founder of Walmart, also founded Arvest Bank back in the 1960s.

So while Walmart Inc. doesn't directly have its own bank, they effectively do. In fact, around here, many Walmart stores have Arvest bank locations inside.

Fed Ex and UPS and USPS are going to wake up one day to find Amazon no longer needs them as well.

I haven't seen that outside of the Amazon devices, Kindle, Echo, etc. Do you have an example of a product that Amazon doesn't make where they are offering those five month payment terms?

I saw some blurb about this, and wondered how it fit in with their AMZN card. I already have that, and use it rarely, but for an occasional really large purchase will. 6 months no interest has always been the deal.

LG 34UM68-P 34-Inch 21:9 UltraWide IPS Monitor with FreeSync https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B...cp_api_1F2cAbM7YST83

For me it only shows the 5 month payment option when I am logged into the app but not the website.

I am wanting a new PC to run my cameras and would not mind paying over 5 months but have seen no PCs with that payment option.

Seems pretty random at the moment.

Which Amazon card do you have? I have the Chase rewards CC. No 6 months without interest I am aware of.

He's probably referencing the store card. I have both.

They are damn sure going to try...and likely succeed.

I suspect, though, that at some point in the near future Amazon will be looking down the barrel of some antitrust laws.

I believe that you lose the 5% cash back that the Amazon store card gives you if you break the payments up.

I use it and pay it off. It gives 5% off on everything, so it's great.
