You, my wife, and myself are rowing the same boat.
I'll likely grab the dark grey with the dark interior. Another downfall of the Toyota only a very light grey or tan interior is available unless you get the SE upgraded model.

My 2013 Odyssey and warped brakes issues has completely turned me off to Honda.
This is well known issue by Honda and I won't own another of their vehicles.

Strong motor - yes
But, you also have to stop - Honda fail

Toyotas have the same issue they use far too small brakes for the vehicle.

I may try to get crafty with ratchet straps and seat belts as it does have rear tethers. We might be able to make this work.

Well, forget that idea those are actually just grocery bag hooks I guess as they are only in the plastic cladding and would offer to sort of resistance in a collision.

our pilot of a similar model year also has this issue. Supposedly they redesigned the rotors sometime around 2014, but when they get bad enough that I replace them I'll be going after market.

I ended up giving it a go.
I put both head tethers to the only hook on the rear and I used a ratchet strap at the bottom of each car seat around the frame of the seat you can see the one one the right. I also used the seatbelts to strap them down.
They seem to be in there pretty rock solid. They don't seem anymore loose than they were with the latch system. So we'll give it a go. Hopefully they won't loosen up.

Took the passenger side middle row captains seat out for easier access. It leaves the slide on the track so I am going to need to build a wood box to put over top the plastic cladding will break lickity split with the kids stepping on it.

Excuse the huge pics I have yet to figure out how to make them smaller on the IMGUR mobile app. Automatically asks what size on the desktop webpage but not the app.

My wife and I have a 3rd kid on the way and I will have to sell my truck and buy a minivan. Does the pilot come in AWD? My driveway and weather in the northeast require either AWD or 4x4

The Pilot is an SUV.
The Toyota Sienna is the only current minivan with AWD.

Yes Pilots are mostly AWD. They make a 2WD version but they are mainly sold qown south. I've had an 08 and a 2011 Pilot AWD and they are sure footed in snow and slush. Nothing is good on ice.

An even larger gigantic pain in the tail with car seats in the 3rd row.

Too small. No room for anything behind the 3rd row when it is up just like our Highlander.

Interesting since we got the Pilot because we could not fit hockey bags behind the third row of the Highlander. We could put 2 hockey bags behind the third row in the Pilot. My ex has a new one but I haven't looked at it so I don't know if they made the space smaller.

These go to eleven.
