I was saddened to hear this news. Great Compromise is the most thought-provoking anti-Vietnam war song I've heard.

I used to listen to him when I lived in Chicago in the early 1970s, at The Fifth Peg, at Somebody Else’s Troubles, The Earl Of Old Town, and a few other bars that featured folk music. It was a treat to hear him on the occasions when he performed with Steve Goodman.

An incredibly talented writer and performer.

Geez, the Earl of Old Town. Haven't thought about that place since about 1972. ;-)

I'm broken hearted over the loss of John Prine, been a fan for a lot of years. Great messenger.

Place your clothes and weapons where you can find them in the dark.
