Do you remember your phone number from when you were a kid?
756-9592. One black wall phone hanging in the kitchen with a cord that would stretch just far enough to reach dad's easy chair.

I’d lift the handset, then tell Operator the number.

When I was a kid, area code [409 for us] wasn't required in our town, and all numbers had a 385 prefix. So, all you needed was the last 4.
I was in HS when 386 got added & you have to give the full number.

My mother still lives in the house we moved into back in the 60s.
The house phone number is still the same however the area code has changed a few time as the area has grown.

Still remember it. started with OR-2-####
I have some padlocks that use those for the combination.
Black dial phone on the kitchen counter.
One ring for us, two for a neighbor.
To make a long distance call, you dial zero for the operator and they handled the rest.
No area codes.

Yes, my parents still have it for their landline.
As 71 TRUCK stated, it went from a 7-digit to a 10-digit number years ago; they just added the area code.

It started as a kid as BR8-****
Then it changed to 214-278-****.
