Every other election the Dems keep rolling this one out, of course it's ONLY when their candidate looses does this get a spotlight. Somehow they think that only the popular vote counts, ignoring the fact that EACH state exists as a semi-automous entity, complete with its own laws, regulations and taxing structure...as if each state is it's own country, hence UNITED states. The EC was created to not only provide each state with a set amount of votes as per its population like the House of Representatives but, it prevents big population centers from perpetually dominating the other parts of the country. The Dems and those in favor seem to want an existence like France, where Paris dominates the entire political landscape, a completely centralized form of government where the other outlaying departments have to bargain and curry favor with Paris to get things. No surprise why Macron's government is crumbling year after year, as the opposition is looking to up-end the status quo, the statists are trembling.

Now is the time to remind your liberal friends that the EC process does take population into account while keeping the smaller states relevant, for example Cali gets 40ish electoral votes if the election night coverage is correct.

Irksome Whirling Dervish |
This is a tired and repeat argument the Dems always make. They want to pack the SCOTUS but it was fine when Justice Roberts wrote the majority opinion upholding Obamacare. They didn't find any need to move towards elimination of the EC when Democrats won office. This is just the usual BS.

Page late and a dollar short |
If the Democrats win it’s all fine, in their opinion the system works. If they lose, they want to change the game rules to favor them winning. If they’re called out on something, like the Postmaster General the other day playing the “Lalala I can’t hear you” game the other day. Bunch of sore loser little kids. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A. How about an amendment with term limits on congress, 12 years, house, senate or both, so some congressman can't do 12 in the house then 12 in the Senate. Oh and add on that they and their families can't use insider information to trade stocks, if they do all the gains they make are property of the Treasury, along with jail time.

This is a good start, but I like the idea of fining them 3x the amount of their insider trading gains. “Your family made $100,000 in insider trading. You pay $300,000 to the treasury, go to prison for five years, and become a felon with all the loss of rights that entails.”

In Oregon I wish we had an electoral college type thing for state elections. Portland rules, Wheeler loses. SIGnature NRA Benefactor CMP Pistol Distinguished

It's really too bad the GDCs can't focus on legislation, like, you know, providing for the common defense, establishing a fair and just economy, details like that instead of always trying to compost the Constitution. _______________________

So true, but with Vivek and Musk on board and they have the staff to go through the bills and put the BS out on the internet to millions before they vote it can change DC. Either they will pass some bill about national security and releasing bills to the public to hide this "we have to pass it to see what is in it" bullshit, or the spotlight will be so hot they will learn to be straight forward... yeah that last parts a big IF

I think every state should have it. Small rural counties are no different than small rural states. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Doug Patton.

I’ve said this same thing since the 90’s. These POS “career” fuckers. The founders wanted this to be a rotation of American citizens. The best of us. Lawyers, Doctors, teachers, ex-military leaders, businessmen. You do your 1 or 2 terms, and rotate back to the business world. These fuckheads have turned it into a career to the point they die in office. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

Objectively Reasonable |
Travel expenses to, from, and during actual sessions of Congress. Reasonable expenses for maintaining an office in their district, and a small staff to handle constituent services. A small stipend to cover other "unusual" expenses. Not a single cent more than that. There was a point in our history when a legislator-- state or federal-- HAD to have independent means, because there was no money to be made in their legislative office. I would LOVE to see us return to that.

The government should be so small that members of congress would spend less than two months in DC. The vast majority of their service should be spent in their home office, where they can be accountable to the people they're screwing over. No one's life, liberty or property is safe while the legislature is in session.- Mark Twain

“It is time to retire this 18th-century invention that disenfranchises millions of Americans,” Sure Dick. How about we retire career politicians like yourself instead. Otherwise they’re gonna be rolling your corpse into the US Capital to vote just like Feinstein. I’d love to see every member of congress pass a collegiate level exam on the principles of the US Constitution. With public results.

The electoral college screws people in TX and CA and other high-population states. Those voters one person one vote is more like 1.25 persons one vote. But it prevents candidates from ignoring 1/2 of the country's voters. I am still for it. The problem with term limits without government employee limits,is you have an unelected bureaucracy running the country and that is worse than what we have.
