Living near Gary, IN where it's "rumored" gangs fire into the air New Years Eve....and who knows when else, the bullets have to land somewhere. In fact, I've found several during walks on the upper level of the parking garage at work. Glad it didn't land on my car!

Gary that says it all. Michael Jackson's home town. My Dad used to drive through there years ago cause he did not want to pay the dues on the Indiana Toll Road. He told us to roll up the windows and look straight ahead.

Pretty specific there. CPD SIG! Big Grin I didn't measure it, but it looks like a 40S&W. It is a hollow point.

Was in the Air National Guard here in Louisville. Ramp walk for FOD after New Years Day would frequently turn up spent rounds on the tarmac. Sometimes there was a ding or two in aircraft that was hard to explain. Roll Eyes

At what angle was it embedded?

Both good questions. I should have taken a photo before removing it. I could probably place it back how I took it out and tell. I know the impact was somewhat angular. There was no deformation of the bullet itself. Because of the angle of the roof, I think it had to come from a westerly direction or it probably would have bounced off the roof.

It determines if the round was fired straight up or at an angle. Just things you wonder about. Straight up can do little damage as it falls at constant velocity. Angled it can kill far away.

This reminds me of a story one of the guys in the lab told a few years back.
He was riding the city bus to work because his car was in the shop. A couple of his fellow passengers were having a fairly loud discussion about firearms.
It was close to New years Eve, and one of them said, "Man, I wish I had me da Glock to fire up in da air!!!"

It's enough to make you weep.

I found a bullet embedded in the trim on the right side of my garage door. Looks like it hit at about a 70° angle (i.e., mostly overhead), enough to clear the roof eve. It was embedded far enough so that it was flush with the trim panel. This was about 3-4 years ago in Carlsbad NM. Not a holiday to the best of my recollection.

Thus the metric system did not really catch on in the States, unless you count the increasing popularity of the nine-millimeter bullet.

It's not Christmas without grandma bustin' rounds off the back deck with her chopper.
