January 16, 2025 – TFC Executive Director Mike Novak reported Thursday, January 16, 2025, that 54.6 miles of the border wall program had been completed as of January 16, 2025. Active construction is underway at 11 locations in six border counties: Cameron, Starr, Zapata, Webb, Maverick, and Val Verde Counties.

The Texas Facilities Commission has closed on 98 easements representing approximately 65.3 miles of Texas Border Wall. Director Novak noted “that the goal was to erect 50 miles of the wall by the end of the calendar year; that milestone was achieved by Thanksgiving.” He also reported that we currently have “a runway of 69.2 miles of border wall” due to the signed easements or those in closing. And “We have another 111 miles of easements in various stages of interest, some in negotiation.” Therefore, as Director Novak highlighted, “the current program objective remains to deliver a minimum of 100 miles of wall (Texas Border Wall) substantially complete by the end of calendar year 2026.”

During the commission meeting, Novak emphasized two critical points in his report to the Texas Facilities Commissioners: “The key metrics/stats that we report are selected with respect to SECURITY and PROCUREMENT INTEGRITY.” We strive to be transparent, but the security risk is real.

Security for the landowners, contractors, engineers, and agency program staff. TFC is cognizant daily of the safety of all involved working in various locations in Texas near the United States-Mexico border.
Regarding Procurement Integrity, TFC is as transparent as possible without disclosing information that would give any contractor a competitive advantage over another or disadvantage the state of Texas in securing the absolute best value for our taxpayers.

I'm going off memory and a quick Wikipedia check, but the border wall construction statistics for 2024 by who funded it and percent of construction:
  • State of Texas - 100%
  • US Government - 0%
  • State of New Mexico - 0%
  • State of Arizona - 0%
  • State of California - 0%
