Saw this on Instragram with his personal response. Very fortunate. Bear spray was eventually effective

Reading his instagram, it appears about a year and a half ago, he survived a brain tumor (having it removed) and then attacked by a bear. Wow, just wow.

The bear spray was effective, but he was holding the can in his hand and protecting his neck with his hands when the bear bit and punctured the can. It exploded in her mouth which caused her to run away.
