The last few years, he has changed his mind apparently, as Berkshire has pretty sizeable stakes in Southwest, among others.
Southwest has been a bit of an anomoly. IIRC some years ago a quite influential US Congressman called the chairman/founder of Southwest wanting a seat for his son on an already fully booked flight. The CEO told the critter "tell him to buy a ticket on an available flight". I don't see that happening today.
