Mired in the Fog of Lucidity |
This is what we're facing in this election in Colorado. I'm so disgusted! It's unnerving to think that Polis might be the next governor. I guess I shouldn't be surprised since Bernie Sanders won the Democrat primary in 2016. Gag me! Americans are a freedom-loving people who want the government out of their lives. More government regulation is never the answer to our country’s most challenging problems. And in Colorado, where I’m running for governor as a Republican, it’s no different. Colorado is a state with a deep libertarian streak. In past elections, Coloradans have overwhelmingly voted down single-payer health care, defeated a massive tax increase proposed by the teachers union, and legalized marijuana at the ballot box. That is the independent Colorado I know and love – a fiscally responsible state that isn’t afraid to chart a path for the nation on contentious issues. But this year that all can change. Democratic candidates across the country are adopting far-left, radical policies that the majority of Americans do not support. The Democratic Party has moved to the far left to appease its extremist supporters. An avowed socialist, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, is now the face of the Democratic Party. Whether it’s mandating government-run health care, abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), or banning fracking (a technology that has helped the United States become number one in the world in energy production), Democrats are now advocating policies that are far outside of the mainstream and endanger our economy and our jobs. In Colorado, the race for governor is a microcosm of what is happening on the national stage. In June, Democrats nominated Congressman Jared Polis, the most radical and extreme gubernatorial candidate in Colorado’s history. His record in Colorado over the past few years only underlines this fact. In 2014, Congressman Polis earned national recognition when he used his vast personal wealth to bankroll a ballot measure that would have banned fracking and driven 230,000 energy jobs out of Colorado. Congressman Polis is now running on a platform of single-payer, government-run health care; transitioning Colorado to 100 percent renewable energy; promising “free” pre-school; and promoting a carbon tax. This list of promises and other unfunded mandates adds up to at least $90 billion in spending and costs, and would triple the size of Colorado’s budget with no means to pay for it except through higher taxes – nearly triple what Coloradans presently pay. As we near the final days of this campaign, Congressman Polis is unapologetically doubling down on his radical persona. The face of American socialism, Bernie Sanders, is joining Congressman Polis on the campaign trail in Colorado. Recently, when asked to name a single policy difference he has with Sen. Sanders, Congressman Polis came up short, failing to name a single point of disagreement with America’s most famous socialist. This is a race for governor of Colorado, but the impacts will be felt all across our country. Make no mistake -- a Polis victory in a swing state like Colorado will further normalize socialist policies. Will Congressman Polis and Bernie Sanders' brand of extreme government regulation and intervention cement itself as the standard? Voters in Colorado and across the country are being presented with a new brand of unabashed extremism that risks economic catastrophe and flies in the face of our country’s founding principle of individual freedom. While we are working tirelessly to defeat socialism in Colorado, it ultimately will be up to voters. It is my hope and prayer that voters across the country choose to let freedom ring and that Coloradans’ voices are heard from coast to coast. https://www.foxnews.com/opinio...lism-in-the-midterms

Yep, we have a black, nitwit, socialist running for governor here who's telling Floridians he'll make healthcare a 'right', slap a state sales tax in place (good luck with that given the legislature is reliably Repub), and grow jobs in the state (by taxing the hell out of everyone?). Unfortunately, Florida has had such an influx of northerners who've brought their moronic beliefs and voting habits with them, that a majority of Floridians have lost their damn minds. I'll be voting DeSantis and praying he wins. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. Every man should have several guns. I have to say this. On a statewide level CO has gone left. It's been drowned under a flood of Californians who got priced out of CA, but brought their politics with them.

I agree. I am doing the same thing you are BigDeal. Colorado has seen an influx of idiots who cashed in on their real estate and ran for the Front Range. Sadly a great state is turning not so great. ____________________________ Yes, Para does appreciate humor.

Too old to run, too mean to quit! |
What the hell is it with these numb-nuts! They appear, and act like they were born under a fucking rock, and never moved out. Let alone actually learning anything about this "Miracle" called single payer health systems. For a living example, all anyone has to do is check the health care system performance in Britain! People dying in the streets for lack of care or treatment! Health system in Kanada is so bad that Canadians come to the US for treatment! If these people want a successful health care system, they should check out Germany! Is it perfect? Of course not, but light years ahead of what we have, or England, Canada! Like happened to several other places! Mainly along the west coast, but it has begun in Idaho as well. Sorry, typing while on a conference call is not the best idea. Gillum wants to jack up the sales tax and add a couple new statewide taxes to the equation to try and finance his socialist wet dreams. Even if he does get elected, I don't think the legislature is going to line up behind any of his ideas. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. By the last info I read Polis has dumped $22 million of his own money into his election...more than double what Stapleton has raised in campaign contributions. Although Stapleton has done a great job as treasurer, and I do believe he would make a FAR better Governor than Polis, he is a less than ideal candidate. Stapleton is a numbers guy, that is his strength, but his campaign has largely focused on attacking Polis' record and platform...many aren't sure what his platform is other than Polis sucks and will be a disaster. When Stapleton remains calm and focused in interviews he is able to make a case for why Polis would be a poor choice...but unfortunately the debate between the two was a train wreck and Stapeton did himself no favors when he lost his cool. Hoping Stapeton can pull a rabbit out of the hat and win this one...but I fear the worst.

I was born in Colorado. Lived here all my life and love the State with all my heart. What has happened to the politics here that have been hijacked by the liberal bastions of Denver and Boulder is a disgrace. Polis being elected governor would be the final nail in the coffin. After Hickenlooper and his bullshit, four or eight years of Polis and the State will be no longer anywhere I want to live. If I wanted to live in California I would move there. Yeah, I'm a little bitter. _______________________ “There is more stupidity than hydrogen in the universe, and it has a longer shelf life.” ― Frank Zappa

If Polis wins and actually is able to push this ridiculous health plan through, I'm out. Much less all the rest of his nonsense. ______________________________________________ Aeronautics confers beauty and grandeur, combining art and science for those who devote themselves to it. . . . Early results are NOT promising for Stapleton... James in Denver ---------------------------- "Voldemorte himself created his worst enemy, just as tyrants everywhere do! Polis has defeated Stapleton. Congresswoman Diana DeGette, who comfortably won her re-election bid in her solidly Democrat district, was heard telling her supporters that "Colorado is Blue, Blue, Blue." CD6 incumbent Mike Coffman (R) has been defeated by Jason Crow (D), and this will be the first time since the CD was restructured that a Democrat will represent it. (former Army Ranger defeats former Marine). The remainder of the CO CDs will continue within their party affiliations. Incumbent Secretary of State Wayne Williams (R) has been defeated by Jena Griswold (D). He really did a fantastic job of managing elections here in CO...so much so he was endorsed by every newspaper in CO. Other states, and even other countries, even sent delegations to observe how well he and his staff managed CO elections. Several of the other races are too close to call at this point. https://elections.denverpost.com/ One of the most distressing developments is that it is being reported that both the CO Senate and House will have a Democrat majority...and with a Progressive Leftist Governor Polis the Democrats have carte blanche to start ramming their agenda through. I don't know how the national election picture will turn out but the Blue Wave slammed Colorado. Dark storm clouds are gathering on the horizon for this state. I've been contemplating an escape plan myself. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Modern Day Savage,

Yes, Commierado has gone to shit. I don't think I'll stay for more than another year or two. Just not sure where to go. Probably Texas, my son lives there. Sad to see what the Kalifornians and such have done to this state. "Someday I hope to be half the man my bird-dog thinks I am." looking forward to 4 years of TRUMP!

Polis was favored but I was hoping Stapleton could somehow pull it off. Not good. I've been here all my life, but I may be short-timing too, coloradohunter44. I won't live in Colifornia.

It is a sad result for all liberty loving Coloradans. I would have to say that my father, my grandfather and my great-great grandfather would not recognize the state as it is today. Unfortunately my sister and I have both come to the same conclusion separately; we don't know if we should stay in Colorado. My Great-Great-Grandfather on my grandmother's side settled in Colorado on July 4, 1886, in Stratton, Colorado. I was born here just like my father before me. The youngest of four, our family is divided 2 libs. My sister and I learned our conservative values from our parents. My brother and oldest sister must have been dropped on their heads because they took the liberal path. I joined the Navy, just as my father did when he was 17. I made a 24 yr career, coming back to Colorado in 1997 to retire. I first noticed Colorado changing in the mid-80's. Just like others have said, we suffered an influx of Californians after they started California on it's trip to the sewer. Next thing we know, folks are buying houses without even thinking about the price because they were flush with profits from the sale of a 2 bedroom cracker box in Cali for $500,000. They come to Colorado and try to drop $500K on a house here, so the market prices start to skyrocket, supply and demand. Before we knew it, we had politicians coming out from Cali and settling in Colorado. I close with a joke that I told back in the 90's. A Texan, Californian and Coloradan are having a drink. The Texan takes a swig of Tequila and tosses the bottle in the air and shoots it with a single shot. The Californian asks why he wasted that bottle of tequila and the Texan replied "I am from Texas, and we have more tequila that we know what to do with. Not to be outdone, the Californian tosses his bottle of wine in the air and shoots it with the Texan's gun. The Texan asks, "why did you shoot that bottle of wine?" The Californian declares that "we have so much wine in California we don't know what to do with it." The Coloradan finishes his Coors, tosses it over his shoulder and pulls out his Sig and shoots the Texan and the Californian. The bartender asks, "why did you shoot them?" The Coloradan says, "I'm from Colorado and we have so many Texans and Californians in Colorado, we don't know what to do with them." It's only a joke, so I hope no one was offended.
