The wife’s Suburban is finally gone!!!

Black92LXThe wife’s Suburban is finally gone!!!
Many of you have read many of my rants on that old Suburban we had. When I was not fixing something it was a good looking vehicle and a great highway traveler.
However it was plagued with issues pretty much from the get go. Thankfully I was able to do all the work. We had it for almost 7 years and it was just tired.
So been shopping for the last month for a Suburban, Yukon XL, or Navigator.
We were super picky in what we wanted. 3-4 years old under 70k miles, heated steering wheel, black interior, heated/cooled seats, rear seat entertainment, and no black, white, silver, or light grey under $55k.
Yes a tall order but doable with some searching and traveling.
Found a couple Denalis that fit the bill with one of our good friends here went and snapped some pictures to me. Unfortunately when I called to deal it was sold.
I then located a 2022 Lincoln Navigator L Reserve loaded to the gills. Way more than any 2021 or 2022 Denali I could find.
Fresh off a 3 year lease (one owner) fully serviced and maintained by the selling dealer (who I bought from). I’ll even say overly maintained as they did a lot of the added intake and injector cleanings which I won’t complain about.
Has some pretty new Pirelli Scorpion Verde tires which a buddy says perform amazingly on both his BMW X5s.
Has a bit over 60k miles which is a little higher than I wanted for a 3 year old vehicle but with the meticulous service records and a bit of the factory powertrain warranty left I was still able to purchase the Lincoln ESP warranty that covers me for another 60k miles on pretty much everything including all the electronic gizmos which is good because these seats are THIRTY WAY adjustable and fully massaging seats. Just does not cover wear parts.
Also came with 3 years of Blue Cruise (Ford/Lincolns self driving system) and connected services. This thing is an absolute treat to drive it’s like a space ship almost.
Yes, the Achilles heal of the 3.5L Ecoboost is the Cam Phasers. For whatever reason Ford just can’t get them right. But ohh well the warranty is less than what my buddy just paid the dealer to do the Cam Phasers at a steep discount.
So going to keep it pretty simple since it’s the wife’s.
Bigger Livernois intercooler just to keep intake temps down especially here in the summer. In the summer it can drop intake temps by 100*
Aluminum trans pan to help cool the trans fluid and also has a drain plug so draining the fluid is way easier.
Black Grille
Full Ceramic tint all around.
Paint Correction and full ceramic coating.
Woolwax undercarriage and rocker/fender void application.
My buddy’s brother is one of those Instagram/Youtube people that’s in pretty close with the Ford Performance folks.
So a factory backed tune may be a possibility.
The truck is Starlight Grey Metallic which is beautiful from a distance it’s just super dark grey but up close it has green, purple, and silver flakes.
It looks like the shimmer of the Milky Way.
Pictures do it no justice.
It’s funny I called it a space ship and my kids asked if it was named after the movie (bonus points if you know the awesome 80s movie reference).
This is just a picture I grabbed off the interwebs but looks exactly the same. Made the 3.5 hour drive one way after work lastnight so did not get home till super late and the wife is out and about tonight.

P250UA5Congrats, we love our Expedition Max. It's a Limited so not as loaded.
We got cam phasers covered right after we bought it, under warranty. Otherwise it's been solid, apart from a rarely occurring shift oddity going from 3>4 when cold, and only the first time. Subsequent 3>4 shifts are fine.

BeancookerSweet. Lincoln does make a nice SSUV. Damn she’s big…
Enjoy Jeremy. I hope your wife loves it as much as you do.

PR64Once you get used to the Bluecruise and trust it, it's pretty nice.
Since I don't drive much I'm not going to renew my subscription after my three years @ $600 a year.
I will just use the adaptive cruise control and keep my hands on the steering wheel...
Congratulations on the new ride.

BurtonRWThe Navigator was mirror-polished chrome. But… any chance you can download Paul Reubens’ voice for the onboard voice response system?

Is the stereo killer though?

xd45manSorry you have turned to the dark side but I hope you enjoy your new ride.
I'm a Suburban fan for life. I'm on my 3rd which is a 2017 Premier. I'm thinking for my next Suburban I go old school and get a Gen 9 (00-06) and do a "pimp my ride". I loved my 05 Z71.

Do you know what effect these mods will have on the extended warranty?

It is without a doubt the most amazing factory stereo I have ever heard.
I have heard a lot of them. It’s unreal how you are immersed in sound.

I’ve been a Ford Guy for a very long time. I still love pre AFM GMs.

Both are simple passive bolt ons. No effect on warranty.

Bang & Olufson? The system in my former Explorer & our Expedition sounds great. Don't get to exercise it too much, kids don't like it as loud

My Fiesta needs an upgrade, not bad but far from the B&O or the Burmester I had in my Mercedes.

Nice! Most of the factory upgrade stereos we’ve had have been good enough, but not great. The Beats stereo in the GLI is crap though, so we put a Rockford Fosgate amp, DSP, speakers, and sub in it. It’s like John Bonham and his whole drum kit is in the car.

.38supersigWhat kind of rims are you going to put on it?

September 11, 2025, 09:53 PM
BaranWhen I travel for work, we usually rent full size SUV’s. The Navigator was my favorite of the 3 we usually get offered.
1. Navigator
2. GMC Yukon
3. Jeep Wagoneer
