I gave my notice in November of 2017 at 58.

That month went by and they asked me to stay another month, then, another month. When they asked me to stay two more months, I said "Sorry, I'm out of here".

So, I finally retired at the end of January, 2018.

Retired at age 55 back in May 2016 and thoroughly enjoying retirement. I travel, I keep busy with home improvement projects, Im involved with several ministries at church and I go to the gym daily so those things keep me busy. I love doing what I want to do each day, I love not having to deal with traffic each day, I love being able to wake up decide to hop on my bike and go ride for a week. So many good things about retirement I love but the key is finding productive ways to spend your day and having enough retirement income to live comfortably. By the grace of God I have those things. Thank you Jesus!!!!

I was going to retire at the end of this year but the tax man was about to help himself to some of my money. My work's vacation pay policy is not "use it or lose it". I will get about 6 months vacation pay when I retire. I definitely don't want to take it this year so I am retiring on 2/27/2026.

I retired early in 2020 at the onset of the pandemic. My wife is a long term cancer/bone marrow transplant survivor. I worked in healthcare and did not want bring Covid home to her. I was just shy of 65 and had planned to retire a few months later anyway.

10 years ago, at age 63. I might have gotten more SS if I'd waited, but I might also be dead and collect nothing.
