When did you retire?
Tomorrow will be one of my coworkers last day! It got me to wondering what percentage of our members are retired. Obviously that’s almost impossible to ascertain but I’d like to hear your story. When, from where?
I’ve got 13 years until I can contribute to this thread.

I've got at least 15 years left.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

I retired from the power company at 59 1/2 . I wasn't quite ready but internal politics made the decision easy . Zero regrets .

Retired 10 years ago at age 62. Busier now then I have ever been while working.

The key to enforcement is to punish the violator, not an inanimate object. The punishment of inanimate objects for the commission of a crime or carelessness is an affront to stupidity.

I don't plan on retiring, I love my job and I travel a good bit. But, my job may evolve sooner than later to something I don't enjoy

30 days before I was eligible for SS benefits @ 62. That was in 2012.

Always planned to retire at or shortly after 62, a toxic co-worker pushed that up a little. I figured living off Navy pension and savings for a month was better than having a stroke...

Retired 20 years ago at age of 61. I have spent the last 20 years guiding and advising (my wife says more like aiding and abetting!) my grandchildren toward a happy and successful life. We are getting there .......

I retired on July 18th of this year just before I turned 71. I spent 38 years with Western Electric, AT&T, Lucent Technologies, and OFS. I was laid off in October of 2013. I spent one year consulting and trying other positions. I was hired by Capgemini America as an SAP consultant in Feb, 2015 and spent 10 1/2 years with them before retiring this year.
