Re: the thread title. Heck, there are more than 4 other countries you can reach by train from London in a day! GB (and Europe) are pretty small, compared to the US.

Texas is a little bigger than France and Bosnia & Herzogovina combined. It is possible to drive completely across Texas (east-west or north-south) in about 20 hours, so it is reasonable to expect that travel from London to France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Switaerland, Austria, Czech Republis, and Poland might be possible by train in 24 hours. ( Denmark, Lithuania, Hungary, and Slovakia might also be possible.)

And in that 24 hours of travel from London, you won't go near any BBQ joints or hear any E-ha's.
