I was a fencer in college in the 60’s and a little later as recreation. ‘USA Fencing’is out of their fucking mind allowing male trans to fence genetic females!
Like ANY OTHER strength sport, women are at a genetic disadvantage.
I thought President Trump’s order had stopped this crap. The only way to stop the discrimination is by financial sanctions. I have written in protest, for what good it does to Lefty Thinking.

I agree. More women are going to have to do the same and refuse to compete against men.

Yes, in fencing, like many other sports and activities, the advantage goes to the stronger participant, and in the case of fencing, height can also be an asset. Not sheer brute strength, but explosive, quick power, competitive fencers, like many other sports, hit the gym and train for strength and speed. Height gives extra reach with the arms and legs.

A couple of issues with the story and responses:
1. The "group" USA Fencing", is not a college athletic league. So the "Trump banned..." comments are not applicable. That the girl may have been in college is irrelevant.
2. The rule the girl broke was "failure to complete", not failure to compete against a trans opponent. Per the charter, participants may not decline a match. Had she performed the match and just stood there, instead of actually fencing, may have lead to a different outcome. Lie it or not, sports is an arbitrary collection of rules, and if you break the rule, you suffer the consequences. (Slight thread drift - you have to interpret supreme court rulings the same way. Often times, the issue is procedural, and not the conduct itself.)
The root issue is allowing trans athletes to compete at all, which I agree is wrong. Had she competed and lost, I doubt she would have received the publicity she did, so I applaud her for not competing and furthering her cause.
PS - I laughed a the "foil" comments!

Unfortunately it’s a private enterprise. Her best options are to change the minds of the governing body, or find another club that will not tolerate this bullshit. Either way what a pain in the ass situation for that young athlete. Good for her and hopefully more women will follow her lead. Brave young lady right there.
