Republicans are shocked and outraged after their Democratic colleagues voted to block House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s resolution to condemn the Iranian government and support the Iranian protesters who are boldly demonstrating against the oppressive regime.

Leader McCarthy's resolution does the following:

1) condemns Iran for killing over 1,000 Iranian citizens who were protesting their government,

2) condemns the Government of Iran for shooting down Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752,

3) condemns the Government of Iran for repeatedly lying to its people and to the world about its responsibility for the downing of Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752,

4) calls on the Government of Iran to refrain from the use of violence, and protect the rights of freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, the leader's office explains.

Tensions between the U.S. and Iran have been sky high in the past few weeks. Iranian terror leader Qassem Soleimani helped orchestrate attacks on coalition bases in Iraq that killed a U.S. contractor and injured several others, and helped plan the attack on the U.S. embassy in Baghdad.

After Trump ordered the airstrike that killed Soleimani, Iran retaliated by striking more bases. It also admitted that it "unintentionally" shot down the Ukrainian plane with a missile. The Trump administration announced new severe economic sanctions against Iran last week.

"The Iranian people - and the whole world - need to know that America stands with those who stand for freedom, and it’s pathetic that Democrats have refused to lend their support," said Mark Bednar, McCarthy's Strategic Communications Director.

They’re trying to destroy this country. Supporting something like this is a no brainer.

One can only hope that this is another stake in the heart of a party that has slide so far left that it must fail and disappear.

Hate to say it, but don't count on it. The young ones are being indoctrinated/brainwashed growing up, from grade school all the way through college.

Ah, don't worry about their party. The House Minority just put the Dems on public record as opposing the condemnation of Iran for what are indisputably bad acts, and will make most certain that as many self-identifying Independents as possible hear about it before early November.

I just can't believe that those long-eared suckers fell for something so obvious when they they could've voted for the resolution without making any real political commitment by doing so. I would just about bet the ranch that if the Dems had passed, it probably wouldn't have made any newspapers at all and certainly wouldn't have made any kind of impression.

My money is on this happening. Then the socialists can brag how they brought the resolution and the corrupt media will cheer then on. Meanwhile, the Republicans will be pressured to support it or get blamed.

Some famous person (Alinsky?) said that the way to bring down the USA was to take over the schools and convince the young people to do what you wanted done. In this case, destroy the government and bring in "socialism".

That’s the fundamental problem. Leftism/socialism/communism is like a religion to its adherents. There is reportedly a Jesuit maxim that states, “Give me a child for his first seven years and I’ll give you the man.” Most leftist indoctrination doesn’t occur that early, but it still has overwhelming influence over young minds through adolescence and into early adulthood. And once people are conditioned to believe without evidence (i.e., have “faith”) it takes a lot to change those basic beliefs. The twentieth century saw countless examples of how intelligent, well-educated people believed with unwavering steadfastness in the infallibility of socialist and Communist systems despite their failures and even obvious horrors.

I don’t like the pessimist I’ve become about this issue, but my knowledge of history and what is obviously happening in this country today make any alternative impossible.
