Our first dachshund Salchicha crossed the Rainbow Bridge late yesterday. On May 10 she would have been 17 years old. Best behaved dog we've ever had. Thank you girl for all the years of unconditional love, and making sure I had a clean face at bed time. Seen here sleeping through hurricane Harvey.

It's tough to lose your dog but 17 years is a darn good run. She looks like a sweetheart. Sorry.

Thanks. She's been fighting kidney disease for the last 6 years. Special diet and some treatments helped a lot. She truly was a special one of a kind.

Very sorry to hear about Salchicha.

Your picture looks very familiar in that our daschunds love to sleep like that as well. In fact that might be why my hips always hurt.

Our prior dachshunds, Bud (14), Wendy (15), Macie (13), Gretchen (14), and Jacks (18) will welcome Salchicha as she crosses the Rainbow Bridge.

Godspeed sweet Salchicha. Always heartbreaking to hear of another good pet going over the bridge, but they should be remembered and spoken for. I always get misty reading these threads, but will always grieve with the owners, always.. Frown

My condolences for you loss, may your days be comforted by wonderful memories

I love dachshunds, always wanted one - my wife and I were in Albany, GA for work few years back and was at the mall there after dinner one evening, Well, the mall had a pet store that had pups so we wandered in - and they had dachshunds! One was long haired and so sweet, I immediately wanted to take her home - it took my wife quite some time to talk me down - since then I think of that sweet pup and wonder but with all our cats - its tough to be a dog in a cat house as the saying in our house goes.
