Was just curious, Was actually talking about the older [2009ish] Silverado/Tahoe Hybrids with a coworker yesterday
Was interesting that they didn't crank, just turned on.

True, didn't think about that as a pre-start method.

In the Hybrid Maverick transmission there is a "starter/generator". When coasting the starter/generator charges the battery. The transmission is a single speed and there is no reverse gear, the polarity is reversed to back up. The transmission connects the gas engine, electric engine and the starter/generator.
