An "award" from U.S. Army TACOM arrived today by mail. My father did serve in WWII in the European Theatre, later killed in the Korean Conflict in 1952

I did not order or know anything about the:

"031 WORLD WAR II VICTORY MEDAL"

No request for funds has been made. Any other Forum members have any information?

NO, but TACOM is a real thing, https://tacom.army.mil/.

Perhaps contact them and ask about it.

It appears to be a real thing from what I could research

The World War II Victory Medal is a U.S. military award established by an Act of Congress in July 1945 to recognize active duty and reserve service between December 7, 1941, and December 31, 1946.

"TACOM" (U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command) manages equipment and logistical support items, while code "031" typically denotes a specific military specification, contract, or inventory control designator rather than a unique official designation for this decoration.

Medal Overview Established: July 6, 1945 (Public Law 135)Eligibility: Any U.S. Armed Forces or Philippine Islands active duty/reserve personnel serving during WWII.

No Length Minimum: Awarded for any duration of service within the qualifying window.

Design Specifications Obverse: Features the full-length figure of Liberation looking toward the dawn, right foot on a war helmet, holding a broken sword.

Reverse: Bears the inscriptions "Freedom from fear and want" and "Freedom of speech and religion" separated by a palm branch.

Ribbon: Composed of wide rainbow borders flanking a central red band separated by white stripes

There is a link on that page for the Public Affairs Office with a phone number.
