Three Generations of Service ![]() |
For the last several weeks, I have essentially taken over the cooking and cleanup duties as the wife has been having some medical issues. (She's improving nicely since they figured out the appropriate meds). We're both on somewhat restricted diets for one reason or another so menu choices are limited - no red meat, no dairy among other things. This makes coming up with any variety in what to make for supper a tad difficult. For the last 4 days, without conferring at all, we've both come to the same decision about what to make. "We should have fried rice tonight" "Well, dang, that's exactly what I was thinking!" Of course when you only have about a half-dozen choices anyway, I guess statistics and probability figure into it. Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

This happens to Mrs. A and me all the time (28 yrs. married). She'll say, "how about a big pot of pasta and a marinara sauce for dinner tonight," and I'd been thinking the exact same thing. We share cooking duties about 50/50, and the coincidental thinking goes both ways. Certain other activities, going to the range, eating out, choosing which events to attend, etc. also seem to coincide more often than not. I don't think this is at all unusual for those in a long-term relationship. Partly from getting used to each other, but also having things in common that brought you together in the first place, and kept you together thereafter.

I could go with fried rice and pizza on alternating days and be perfectly satisfied. Of course, the docs wouldn't like it much. ____________ Pace
