Anyone else seen an up-tick in spam calls in the last 24 or so hours. My wife's iPhone has been hit solidly. At least 10-12 in the past day.

Her O/S doesn't allow very robust call screening (iPhone 6) and they all seem to be robo-voices alleging the feds are coming after her.

Enough bullshit in the world today without this crap.

Yeah, but my uptick started the day after Arizona shut off the extra Federal unemployment insurance.

I guess a lot of people ended up taking telemarketer jobs.

All of a sudden over the last few days I have been getting a call that hangs up before my voice mail picks up. This has been on my cell phone at the same time every day from a different number.
Before this that calls were at random times of the day.
I average about 1 to 2 calls a day, some days none.

HIYA is a great free call screening app. They have a premium service but no need, the free one is excellent.

I second HIYA. It was recommended in another thread here and I am still very glad I installed it.

This morning I got an expected call from my audiologist, 4 minutes later I get a call , phone says "unknown caller" but its the same area code as my Dr. . I answer and get a robo-voice identifying as a Amazon security computer, #4533t it said it was calling to inform me my Amazon acct. had been compromised .That's as far as I got.

Thanks, but her O/S version doesn't offer this.

In the last few days both I and my wife have been receiving spam text messages. Today’s said someone wants to talk to me and hinted at activities of a “romantic” nature. My wife’s included a YouTube link and “I can’t believe you made this video”

Guess all we can do is delete the crap and go on.

Yep…apparently I’ve ordered multiple iPhone 12s from Amazon…that’s what “Daniel” told me today.

Goddamn Hindi bastards. I guess they can't all be Doctors.

I use Hiya to block calls but they just keep changing the number and calling again. When I'm in the mood I fuck with them keeping them on the line and wasting their time.

My favorite one is the extended warranty call. A female voice in perfect English says my file came across her desk and she noticed my factory warranty was about to expire on my vehicle and wanted to give me the opportunity to extend it. Press 1 to speak to a representative. So I press 1.

James, in a very heavy Hindi accent asked me for my make, model and mileage. I said the lady that called me had all that information and said he could get it from her. Sticking to the script, he again ask me for make, model and mileage that he didn't have that information in front of him. So I said it's a 2015 Jeep Wrangler and before he could say anything I said hold on and I'll go out in the garage to get the mileage. Little bastard stayed on the line while I was "getting the mileage" which took me about 5 minutes. He started his scripted pitch. I let him go for quite a while and then told him it was too expensive. He countered and finally I said I wasn't interested and hung up.

I get a couple “nuisance fax” calls a week. I don’t answer unknown calls and the voicemail is just the damned repeating bleeping fax single tone. Anyone else get these?
