Some of the prices on some of the cars really shocked me, especially the '67 L88 Vettes, as high as they went. I couldn't believe how much the Porsche Seinfeld owned was bidding up to, $25 million and would not sell it. It's a funny thing how that money to most is life changing but to some, it means little. I am not jealous or anything but I couldn't imagine what the reserve was on it.

Did Leno place the high bid? I understand that Seinfeld and Leno are close friends, I suspect a private sale may be in the offing. What would be Mecum's commission on $25 million?

Leno knows how to get ahold of Seinfeld. If he were really interested, it never would've gone to auction. Leno is a car guy but not really a Porsche guy. Leno likes more unusual cars. Seinfeld, on the othehand, is a Porschephile and wants the car to end up in a proper home if he parts with it.

We went down last Sunday, walked the whole place, 4000+ cars, of course we hit the glass house with the big boy toys.

I'm guessing it was seriously high, or even unobtainable, the 917 ends up being the draw for viewers and crowds, who knows JS could have been paid a fee just to enter it as part of the marketing, bums in seats you know, increasing the gate and viewers.

L88's being incredibly rare in production numbers are always high bid cars, I was surprised at the 58 that brought record money for a 58.

If you get the chance to come to Kissimmee, do it, and get a bidder pass so you can go everywhere everyday, and some Dr Scholls...

Who wouldn't want one.

I forget the guy, but I think their road laws allow for some really crazy stuff to be road legal.
Saw a video of a Silk Cut Jaguar [XJR-9], and I think a similar era Nissan [R390, maybe] being driven on the road, legally.

I remember pics in Car & Driver of a street-licensed Porsche in Alabama or Arkansas back in the 1960's or 1970's. The car was something between a 908 and a 917, but I really can't remember which.

I've seen posts of a smaller rare car collection in a random parking lot to escape the Pallisades fire.

That may well be the same car I was thinking of, but the article I read was written at the time the car was originally registered.

Enough details ring a bell that I'm pretty certain it's the same car, though.
