Fill your hands you son of a bitch |
If you have Motortrend tv you can watch the Mecum Kissimmee auction where the featured car will be the 1970 Porshe Mcqueen used in the movie. Currently Jerry Seinfeld owns it. Rumor has it Jay leno wants it bad and may go for around $25 million or so. I'm not sure exactly what time it's going on the block.

I will guarantee you that I will be stuck to the TV. I have been watching the last 2 days, and last week.

The bid was closed at $25M. Didn’t meet the reserve.

Good Lord. Does anyone know what it last sold for? Is Seinfeld greedy? I think he's had it for quite a while, and it's presumably been well-maintained. Amazing car with an amazing history, and cars like that only get more expensive. Very cool for collectors. And very out of reach for most of said collectors. Edit: 2017 for 14M.

Most badass race car ever made. When a car dominates they change the rules, so Porsche brought out the 956 and 962 and dominated again.

These are what dreams are made out of. A true fan would likely never have a shot of owning it. _________________________

According to research I had done earlier this year, in the wake of another viewing of the Steve McQueen film, the top-mounted cooling fan pushes air down; it doesn't pull it up. They experimented with pulling the air up, but it ran hotter and encouraged debris to enter the engine compartment.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
The headers are on the bottom of the cylinder heads and routed close along the bottom of the engine. The heat from them would be pulled up, making it start out much hotter before it even gets to the heads and cylinders. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

Indeed. A friend of mine was convinced the fans pulled up, in order to both cool the engine and create a suction effect. He was stubborn enough to not entertain the alternative (and true) direction. I didn't argue the matter.

Savor the limelight |
With fan being short for fanatic: a person who is extremely enthusiastic about and devoted to some interest or activity, I would argue the opposite.

My high school graduation present from my brother was a trip to Watkins Glen for the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen on July 24, 1971. We had pit passes and I got this guy's autograph There was a CanAm Challenge Cup race the following day. Harshest Dream, Reality

Jackie Stewart? | |||

I swear I had something for this |
Yep. Both Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld are huge Porsche fans and collectors. They also did this commercial almost 10 years ago that's almost true.

Yes, international clay pigeon shooter from 13, Stewart was a prize-winning member of the Scottish shooting team, competing in the United Kingdom and abroad. He won the British, Irish, Welsh and Scottish skeet shooting championships and twice won the "Coupe de Nations" European championship. He competed for a place in the British trap shooting team for the 1960 Summer Olympics, but finished third behind Joe Wheater and Brett Huthart. I heard once he took up F1 when his reflexes were no longer sharp enough to compete against the top tier shooters. According to the Mecum website, it didn't sell.

I'd like to know what the reserve price was on it. There were a few that didn't sell towards the end. The GT 40's seemed to be bringing good money.

Boy, they sure did!! I was a bit surprised, but I guess I shouldn't be......as I am behind on values these days. I have to wonder if there was 1 or 2 shills that were bidding up the 917K. Anyway, we now know just what it is worth, don't we?

I ran into him at Road America when he was driving the CanAm Lola, we talked for a minute while walking down the pit lane. I thought I was a fast walker, but the "Wee Scot" was faster, so I started calling him "Wee Scoot"! -------------------------- Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats. -- H L Mencken I always prefer reality when I can figure out what it is. -- JALLEN 10/18/18
