Not sure at this time where the majority can watch tonight. At 7:00 pm the only debate between DeSantis and Crist will be aired. It’s in my Hometown of Ft. Pierce but it’s by invitation only. So I also will watch on the tube or internet. Should be a good show Crist is going to go for the throat. As it’s his only hope to win. Good chance to watch your future President in action.

Hopefully he never runs for POTUS and remains in FL as Governor, then Senator so he can work for us for many years..

Charlie Crist and Beto O'Rourke are two politicians that leave me scratching my head why anyone would ever vote for them for anything, especially at this point.

They're chameleons, but for people that aren't paying attention, they only know what they're saying at that moment. Scary, actually.

I don't know about that, friend. As only one of 100 senators, he'll be stifled. As President, he could make watershed changes in perception and thought of how government is supposed to run.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Crist, DeSantis get ready to rumble in lone Florida debate
By GARY FINEOUT 10/24/2022 07:01 AM EDT
Hello and welcome to Monday.

Framing the race— Florida’s governor’s race was always going to be a referendum on the job Gov. Ron DeSantis has done the last four years. And as Election Day nears, DeSantis sounds very pleased about that.

Squaring off— DeSantis and Democratic rival Charlie Crist will square off this evening in their first and only debate. It may mark one of the few times this campaign that DeSantis gives any extended comments about his opponent, who once was governor.

Who’s running?— DeSantis’ reelection campaign has spent plenty on television ads ripping into Crist but, publicly, DeSantis — as evidenced this past weekend during a handful of campaign stops — is barely mentioning Crist.

Going over the list— Instead, during his appearances, DeSantis zings the Biden administration and talks about his own record, including what he’s done on education and how he handled the Covid-19 pandemic and hurricanes. “I overdelivered on what I promised to do,” he told a crowd gathered at a synagogue in Surfside on Sunday.

Response— Crist has tried for weeks and months now to question that record. He has hit him over the state’s affordability crisis and teetering insurance market. Crist and Democrats have criticized DeSantis’ stance on abortion and have maintained that Florida will not stop at its current 15-week ban on abortion (which includes no exceptions for rape and incest) if DeSantis wins a second term.

Late in the game— The debate is likely Crist’s last chance to stop DeSantis’ march to a second term. President Joe Biden is headed to the state on Nov. 1 for both a fundraiser and a "get out the vote" rally in South Florida that both Crist and Rep. Val Demings are planning to attend.

The numbers— But Biden is underwater in the state and several new polls show the uphill battle for Democrats. One public poll released late last week showed Crist down by 11 points. A fresh poll out this morning by Telemundo/LX News had DeSantis up 51 percent to 44 percent among Hispanic voters in Florida. A new online/email poll out of Miami-Dade County — usually the firewall for Democrats — shows DeSantis could win the county outright. Everything is trending for DeSantis.

— WHERE'S RON? — Gov. DeSantis is scheduled to debate Charlie Crist at the Sunrise Theatre in Fort Pierce.

Disagree, as Governor he can protect us from DC, as he's done, showing the power that local and state politicians can weld against a tyrannical DC, Desantis shut down CovidJoe's plans, we remained open and thrive to this day.

As Senator he can work with other R senators and lead a more conservative battle, and perhaps change the way the R side of the Senate works, and work for bills that help FL, which was the initial job of Senators, represent the state.

As POTUS his family, life and presidency will suffer daily attacks in Social media and the press, as normal the R voters will fail to give him the votes in the house and senate. This will limit him to 4 years of service for the USA. Who really wants that crap, go Senator and work hard for FL...

If I were the incumbent and leading in the polls, I don’t think I’d give the challenger a debate.

More to lose than win, it seems.

Respectfully, any candidate I'd want to support at that level should be able to defend their positions and stand up to scrutiny. Now if I thought the debate/moderators were rigged for the opponent, I would expect them to say so, and double down on being more prepared... It wasn't that long ago Fetter(woman) was leading pretty solidly in the PA polls, now he may actually debate, although probably a bit rigged in his favor.

I have had dealings with Crist. To borrow a phrase from Doc Holiday in Wyatt Earp, He is a skunk of the highest order. Hopefully he will be exposed as such for everyone to see.

The debate was interesting. Gov. DeSantis won, no questions. I do not think he came off great if he is looking at a 2024 presidential run.this is my gut reaction on visuals. He has my vote.

I am just voicing concern. Not sure how he will be received on a national stage. The full weight of the left media has not been thrown at him yet.

Not at all. I think lots of people are hoping he runs in 24 instead of Trump. I will support whomever the GOP puts forward, but for now I prefer Trump followed by DeSantis.

If Trump does not run, DeSantis will be my top choice. I think he has some image projection issues that struck me during the debate. I thought for a minute he had a tick. These are things he can deal with between now and then.

My preference for Trump right now is this, the media has shot their bolt with him. What else can they say he is, or did or whatever? They cannot do anything to him now. And my preference for him is made knowing the entire establishment is against him.

DeSantis will have some of the establishment behind him.

Tell you what, you dump Romney in Utah, get the other states to get rid of the rest of the Rhinos, insure he gets Congress and the Senate with enough votes to get past cloture then we'll see..

Until then, the rest of the states need to clean up their acts, dump bad politicians, put in good people, and fix it at that level.

Putting in Trump or DeSantis without the base support in congress solves nothing...

I see. Sorry for that. I mistook you to mean you were somehow seriously considering Crist over DeSantis. I was clearly wrong. Don't know why I came to that.

The problem, as I see it, is that I don't think DeSantis debates well. He needs to work on that.

I remember watching him debate that other fella when he first ran for governor and thinking that he looked really weak and unsure of himself. He's not, but that's the way he came across.

The upside is that he governs one whole hell of a lot better than he debates. I think he'll win this going away, but if he has higher aspirations, he's going to need to improve his debate skills.

Well to be fair he has had his hands full with Disaster Relief. Maybe you read about that in the Montana paper. That is a big deal if you live in the affected area. Charlie is a lightweight.
Desantis speaks fluently and in an ariculate fashion. I think he did fine.
By 2024 he will have had plenty of time to learn various one liners, such as You are No John Kennedy delivered to the jaw of Dan Quayle by Senator Benson.
