LS1 GTOJust Saw the Wildest Event in My House
Just saw the shadow of the sun setting up the wall of ceiling.
The angle of the sun through a window on the opposite side, cast a setting shadow up five feet of ceiling we literally saw the shadow move those get in about 30 seconds. The coolest and wildest thing I've seen in this house (I've been here nearly 20 years) and can't say I'd ever thought to look for it.
Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Happened too fast. Was in awe of what we were seeing (wife saw it and said "yup," before turning back around) . Could see heat waves which I suspect was the Earth's atmosphere.

gjgalliganI didn't understand what the OP was trying to describe at all.

All that time to ponder what significance your Mayan architect had in including that feature.

erj_pilotIs the OP writing in English? Or have I just now realized I've been ignorant all my life??

Was posting in awe, so to speak.
Imagine if you will,

, an 18-inch by 5 foot shaft of sunlight from (being cast through) a widow in the western wall being displayed on the inside of the house's eastern wall and vaulted ceiling.
The shaft of light was about a foot of it was on the wall and the remainder on the ceiling (an "extended" beam of light as the ceiling is not perpendicular to the setting sun).
Of the sunlight passing through the window, we saw the shadow cast by the sun (think; the shadow cast by the bottom edge of the window) move that distance (of five feet) in less than 30 seconds.
The sunlight didn't just "fade" away. We saw the shadow cast by the setting sun move up the ceiling (vaulted ceiling).
Short of drawing a rectangle and shading in half of it to depict the shadow moving, not sure how else to describe it. Maybe the conditions will be close enough this evening to capture something close? (Or I have to wait 72 years...)

slabsides45Allow me to interpret: the new bourbon is excellent, though OP has a predilection toward consuming more than prudent around sunset.

OKCGeneMy master bath has a huge window, 6 feet by 6 feet of a solid glass (not broken up into smaller panes) that faces the East. The other wall has a huge mirror, it's 6 feet tall and 8 feet wide from the counter top.
Once a year, over a couple of days only, when the sun is rising in just the right position, the sunlight enters through the big widow and the mirror reflects the sun back out where it illuminates a rosebush along my back fence.
The sun illumination is a very bright orb maybe 12 inches around, something like that, and last year it landed on a beautiful red rose bloom.
It was just totally awesome to see that.
Sorry, I never thought to get a pic. I was awestruck.
