Had the OP wanted a thread about the Masters, I'd have contributed accordingly. It was a great final round with any of, what, six players who could have won with three holes to play? You couldn't ask for a better finish...other than the eventual winner.

I was present to see Tiger Woods mistreat people on two occasions. Once involved him yelling at kids. Saw it with my own eyes. So yes, I don't like him but I do love golf and his win was good for the game. He played well while others got victimized by the 12th. It was a very good tourney.

At the start of the last round (even before) I was always worried about Molinari and Koepka as a threat along with Tiger of course.
Mental perseverance prevailed and Tiger pulled through.
Physically is not light years ahead of the rest like when he was young.
Only the mental experience got him to the finish line.
Great for Tiger and great for golf.
I actually thought his Tour Championship Tourney win last year was just as big a moment but being a Major it obviously is huge.
Congrats all the way.

Some of you are dumping on Tiger for cheating on his wife 11 years ago, but whenever someone posts a thread about their wife or girlfriend all the responses are eject, all women are crazy, no matter how hot she is every man will eventually loose interest, etc. Kudos to Tiger for this amazing comeback.

Americans love a comeback. Particularly in Sports. I think we are somewhat unique in that respect.

Could care less. Whether Tiger is first or last the "Golf" channel is consumed with T.W. If he disappeared tomarrow the golf channel folks would be on suicide watch.

Not sure it was all about experience or playing it safe. Club selection on 12 was a nine
iron for Koepka and probably the same for Francesco. I think if you asked them, there would be no discussion of going for it or playing it safe. Likely just not executing the shot.

As I recall, both Molinari and Finau played 8s and just Sallied them. I don't know what Woods played, but it was clear that he was playing it safe going for the middle of the left side of the green.

You are correct though, there is no question what you do in that situation...assuming that you have either nothing to lose or everything to gain.

They had everything to gain, they went for it, and didn't execute. Woods had nothing to lose and played it safe.

We saw the result of those decisions. That's experience and having played the course dozens of times.

I despise golf. Always have. My son and I were out for breakfast this morning and he loves it. The Masters was on the TV. I seen Tiger with the Nike swoosh on his shirt. I asked my son " Didn't Nike kick Tiger to the curb years ago? He says "Yeah they took him back"
I looked at him and I said " Of course...fucking hypocrites" He knows and realizes the truth of what I was saying but he is so wrapped up in the sport and in "Tiger" that he compromises his own intelligence. I was disappointed but I realize that even in his thirties his life is still shallow enough that he relies on some of these sport figures to give him identity.

With age so will come wisdom my son.

My brother in law was grumbling that that Tiger was doing well earlier today. I asked him why the dislike, and his response was “Well he has a messed up personal life! Cheated on his wife...” etc etc.

“Oh, so all the other guys playing golf today are guys you’d sit next to in Church. Got it.”

Sorry but this is good for golf and good for fans, IMO. Great to see him win it.

I have personal experience along those lines when, as a 12 year old, tried to get him to him sign my program in his last year of college before going pro in the El Paso Sun Classic and got treated... a lot less than professionally. Watched him slam and throw clubs clubs and loudly curse for the whole match from his gallery before being berated by an adult “next big thing pro” as a wrap up to the shit sandwich that was that day.

I guess I’m glad for Tiger and his fans that he finally grew up. He’s great at one thing when he’s got his act together, and that’s hitting a golf ball. People aren’t his game. Congrats on his win. I’ll never be a fan, having decided he was an asshole going back before any of you likely ever heard of him.

My best friend grew up in southern CA and played golf with him when he was a preteen/teen.

I'm sorry to any of the lovers out there, but this man does nothing to improve the game of golf. He just doesn't and it's as simple as that. To try to put him in the same category as men like Nicklaus, or Palmer, or Nick Faldo, or Ernie Els, or Fred Couples, or any of the other classy men who have graced the greens over the decades is laughable.

I watched Phil Mickelson and Matt Kuchar playing the 16th yesterday. Kuchar hit a great shot close to the pin and he and Phil, laughing and smiling, bumped fists after his great hit. Competitors... congratulating each other and enjoying their game. Does anyone here think for one second that Woods would do the same? Hardly.

Kuchar is a great guy and is what golf is supposed to be, as is Mickelson. Woods? Not even close.

In my opinion, those who adore the man (and I use that term loosely) care more about the win than how one goes about the win. Golf is more about how one goes about the win than the win. It always has been and always will be a gentleman's game of honor. Woods is no gentleman and he is most certainly not honorable.

A great athlete and golfer? Yes. Beyond that? No.

All is right again ... Tiger is The Masters champion. So fun watching the tourney this year.
