At my old house I had a 5.1 receiver, Klipsch tower speakers, powered sub, center and surrounds. In my early 20's I longed for Klipsch and over time I acquired all the right pieces. When we moved earlier this year, the TV mounting spot is on a mantle over a fireplace. There was no place for left and right towers. Or a center channel with 2 6.5" woofers and a horn. Or surrounds that were 8-10" tall. So I gave everything to my sister and brother in law and bought a Sonos Beam to mount underneath the TV. And it did pretty darn well. But it wasn't quite enough, so on my Christmas list I put a Sonos mini-sub and a set of One SL's. I got them hooked up today and pulled up The Matrix on HBO Max. I skipped to the scene where Neo and Trinity enter the high rise to rescue Morphius and watched until the helicopter crashes into the glass high rise. WOW! What a difference. The sound is great. The install is super easy. The size is small and unobtrusive. They may not be audiophile quality, but for my purposes, I am pretty darn happy.

I have a 5.1.2 Sonos system at home too, just with the larger Arc instead of your Beam, and the full-sized Sub instead of your Mini. I also use two One SLs for rear channels. (I then have a second separate pair of One SLs that I use for music streaming in the master bathroom. They were free due to a Sonos shipping screw-up.) As stated, it's not quite up to the level of a fully custom perfectly tweaked/calibrated high-end audiophile setup, but if you can swing the price, I think that Sonos is the best compromise option out there with regard to audio quality vs. effort/hassle. And it's leagues beyond a typical soundbar or "5.1/7.1 in a box" setup in audio quality. As one would hope, given the price.

Sonus is a great product although I deploy an AVR system - the Sonus does a very good job and perfect for situations where space or installation barriers exist.

I bought my Sonos this year, started with the Beam, then the One Sl's and then decided to get the Sub and that really pushed across the finish line. I was really back and forth on the sub but it really made the system and it is a must have if you like action flicks. As said before it is super easy to set up. One thing you'll notice is how much base there is in commercials and just regular shows, this can be super annoying. You can select the night time function on the app and it will reduce the base, I do this when the wife heads to bed.

I went from a 7.1.2 setup in our last home to just what you have. Very impressive sound field. I also picked up 2 generation one Play 5s for other area of our house. Definitely nice stuff all controlable from my iPhone or iPad. I'm sorry if I hurt you feelings when I called you stupid - I thought you already knew - Unknown ................................... I love their products for how easy they are for most people to set up and use. My wife uses them all the time. If anyone is a Costco member, watch for their One SL two-speaker deal. It usually comes around twice a year and can land you some One SL (SL is the version of the One without the microphone) for around $125/ea. “The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it.”—H.L. Nakamichi is pretty good too. I have their 9.2.4 system in the living room that has wood paneling. Dual subs and 4 satellites helps immensely. An AVR powered speaker setup it is not however. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone
