A few random thoughts on this topic:

- The US hasn't used a Nuke since WWII. It didn't use them in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq or Afghanistan. I don't see them using them against their own people.

- Swalwell overlooks the fact that, even with our nukes, insurgent groups with much less weaponry have battled the US to stalemates before.

- I like how this esteemed congress-critter assumes that those whose fingers are on the launch button will be on his side in the conflict.

- I think our side would have a pretty good numerical advantage over the US military, even if the military was uniformly sided against us, which I don't think would happen.

Even if this jackass was making a glib, poorly thought out statement, it gives insight into his inner thoughts... as well as most of the more radical leftists.

What he doesn’t take into account is that not only are nukes off the table, use of the military against the citizenry is as well, barring a full fledged coup d’etat.

But if he wants a war, the numbers of well armed, patriotic Americans outnumbers leftists throwing bricks and balloons of piss, not to mention all US forces. We’ve learned the hard way that a determined, lightly armed militant army can bring a well armed military force to a grinding halt.

This guy is the perfect example of why the Founding Fathers felt that citizens needed firearms to maintain their life and liberty.

This is all we need to know about the Democrat Party. They no longer even attempt to hide it....

Let’s crunch some numbers armed military vs. armed civilians....

According to businessinsider.com the US has 1.3 million troops stationed (in the US?) and around the world.

Military.com states that 80% of the jobs in the military are non combatant. That might be read to mean that 20% of the jobs ARE combatant.

20% of 1.3 million is 260,000

The number of deer hunters in the field in Pennsylvania last year, 2017, hunting with a firearm,(on the First day of Buck season) was estimated at 700,000. (Pennlive.com, 11/27/2017) That number, while rising, is low compared to some years in the past, when the number of hunters in Pennsylvania’s woods exceeded 1 million. Remember, these numbers are for Pennsylvania ALONE. Anyone hunt anywhere else?

260k armed military troops vs. 700k+ Skilled(?)hunters that get one shot and practice being quiet and invisible so they can get it.

Some politicians don’t do basic homework before opening their mouths.

You're way overthinking this. There is no significant force that government controls that would carry out any leftist orders to attack the populace. Not the military, not the police (at least a majority of them), and not a leftist brown shirt organization.

A-holes like Swalwell are what my 90 year old father would call "...a $10 mouth backed up with a .$10 ass".

A couple thoughts:

I have friends in various police forces in the US. When asked if they would fire on regular US citizens in the case of civil unrest, to a man said that they would NOT! When pushed little further on the topic, they said, to a man, that they would shed their uniforms and go home to protect their familes.

I have a grandson who is currently an E7 Green Beret. I asked him how the troops in his unit would react to an order to fire on US citizens here in this country. The response was pretty much the same. Absolutely NOT.

Assholes like this swalwell may babble their bull shit about how the "authorities" would react to an order to fire on American who were only expressing their views, and their belief in our constitution. They are welcome to their opinion, but they should be smart enough to keep their pie holes shut until they actually talk to the ones who would have to follow such orders.

Not long ago numbers were published about how many firearms were in the hands of the general public, not counting cops and military. Numbers ranged from 400-600 MILLION. And there are about 60 million American who have guns, and more importantly, know how to use them.

Back when I was in the army, in leadership positions, we were told it would take about 150 troops to chase down ONE dedicated and skilled shooter in the woods/mountains. There are a LOT of civilian shooters in this country who can consistently score accurate hits on targets at 1000 yards, or more.

Even if half the gun owners in this country rolled over and gave up their guns, there would still be 30 million who did not.

I find it interesting that some gun grabbers think the idea that some folks would fight the government impossible.

I find it interesting that they think the fight would occur entirely between "red" civilians and soldiers/LEO. They are expecting to go on with life as normal during a civil war.
