Nashville Mayor Megan Barry resigns, pleads guilty to felony theft
quote:
Nashville Mayor Megan Barry pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony theft of property over $10,000 related to her affair with former police bodyguard Sgt. Rob Forrest, Jr.
She has every reason to be. She just got a sweetheart deal of three years probation.

Well, if only partially nude, may as well get them out there. I’m sure Daily Mail would publish them, maybe even a little $$ for them.
She seems to be eating better the last few years.

Not that I condone cheating on your spouse, but the bodyguard was an upgrade. Bruce looks like an old hippie.

She has no shame whatsoever. No once during her resignation did she apologize to the people of Nashville.

I don't know about where you live, but I doubt anybody where I live would get time on that, especially a first time offender.

No shame. That's leftists for you. It's remarkable to witness, but it's true- these people have no shame, no sense of obligation to the people who elected them.

If she had been a Republican, the headline would have been "Republican Mayor ... Guilty ... Felony Theft" But as it is, if you want to find her party you have to really drill down into the story: "Like Ms. Barry, Mr. Briley is a Democrat ..." (This is from the NYT)

Video showed her smiling and laughing on the way to the podium to announce her resignation

She was an elected official who stole from the taxpayers of Nashville, and not an insignificant amount, either. To receive unsupervised probation in consideration of her resignation and agreeing to pay restitution is a travesty.
I'm aware of a former CFO here who embezzled from a children's charity organization and received federal time after pleading guilty. While it was his first offense, he was admittedly a little greedier than the former mayor although it's hard to tell how much she may have taken had she not been caught.
Malicious mishandling of public funds should have very harsh penalties attached. Even a minimal amount of jail/prison time would send a message as would supervised probation once released.

If you committed Class C Felony Theft and got three years probation and no jail time, you'd be jovial too. Hilariously, her background was having worked as a Business Ethics consultant.

And the wife of her toy boy.
Her husband Bruce had tweeted out after the news of the affair became public a few weeks ago that he stood by her. No word since yesterday if that is still the case.
The security cop that she was having an affair with - his wife filed for divorce a week or two ago.

Well, that's the only place left open at the moment so that's where he's relegated.
