Three evenings at the ER, one walk-in at Urgent Care, and I've lost count of the doctor office visits. ER # 1: My wife had a bout of vomiting that went on and on. After a few hours of this, we decided that we needed to get her to the ER. IV to replace fluids along with anti-nausea medication finally got things settled down. We have not been back to Taco Bell since then. ![]() ER # 2: I was walking barefoot in the house (maybe not such a good idea), tripped over a small throw-rug. Major bleeding, so off to the ER again. Didn't want to mess up the car, so I kept the bleeding foot in a basin while wife drove. The amount of blood loss seemed huge to me, well over a pint, probably closer to two pints, in the basin during the fifteen minute drive to the hospital. I have photos of the toe, but they're pretty gruesome, so I won't post them here. X-rays showed a fracture. Weekly follow-up visits to podiatrist account for many of the Dr. office visits. Healing nicely now, but I have to be careful about keeping it dry and not bumping into things. ER # 3: I like to keep my beard pretty short, maybe 1/8" to 1/4". I was preparing to trim it, step one in this process for me is using a comb to smooth out any tangles. Comb caught some sort of small lesion or blood blister and bleeding commenced. Could not get the bleeding to stop, so off to the ER again. Doc there injected epinephrine, said it would constrict blood vessels in the area, and used a QuikClot dressing to get the bleeding stopped. Urgent Care Walk-In: ER Doc gave my wife spare dressing and QuikClot material and told her to change the dressing next day. Wife tried, bleeding started again, we could not get it stopped, so went to Urgent Care. Numerous doctor visits: Podiatrist for toe, primary care doc for follow up on face bleeding, he gave me a referral to dermatologist. So in the past month, there has been at least one medical visit / week, some weeks two or three. The good news is that my wife's nausea was a one-day and done deal, and my foot and face injuries both seem to be healing as expected. Waiting to see what's next; if it's not one thing ... הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

I had (past tense) been taking 81mg aspirin every evening. Discontinued, the day of the second bleed. Yesterday's visit with primary care doc, he told me to make it once / week instead of once / day. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

Eh! Rub some dirt in it, and get back in there. Take proper care of your lovely wife, though. Glad you're on the mend! I had stopped the 81mg aspirin myself a while back, same, bled out to much. On a PSA, any time you do a number and have a bleed on leg/foot, elevate it above heart. Makes a big difference. ------------------ The plural of anecdote is not data. -Frank Kotsonis
