I have 6 outdoor cameras on my L-shaped ranch. None of which are on a corner. Each is in the middle of the wall it is on.

There one above the middle of the garage door, bottom of the L, facing the front door, driveway, and yard. The one above the front door covers the garage door, driveway, and street. There are two right next to each other on the back wall of the house. The one on the left faces right and the one on the right faces left which gives me full coverage of the lanai, pool, and backyard with minimal overlap. There’s on on each side of the house. One covers the pedestrian door into the garage and the street, the other covers the entrance to the lanai and the rest of the yard on that side of the house that the camera over the garage door can’t see.

Anyone approaching my house by land or sea will be caught on at least two cameras. My main goal was to have a camera at each point of entry and coverage of the pool. None of those are on a corner.

Inside the house is a different story. All the indoor cameras are in corners of the rooms they are in because that’s what gives the best coverage.

We did not want camera's stuck on the middle of walls. For us that is a silly look. At least on this house. Figured, wrongly maybe on the four corners we could get close to 270 degree coverage with each one with the right camera's. With the wireless in the ceiling in the center of the house we should be able to easily add entry camera' with that I am guessing.

This is for the exterior only at this point.

Again, I am a bit of dunce when it comes to this kind of stuff.

My house has 2’ overhangs, so the cameras are mounted to the boards holding up the soffit under the overhangs, not on the walls themselves. They’re all dome cameras and they may look stupid, but I don’t notice them anymore.

The house was broken into once when we weren’t home and my wife wouldn’t live here until we had cameras installed. We put the cameras where we thought they’d do the most good and she doesn’t mind how they look.

On a side note, on Tuesday I learned my church has 32 cameras covering the exterior, interior, and the parking lot. I knew we had about a dozen interior ones. God knows where the exterior and parking lot ones are, but I haven’t seen them.
