I don't want to see badges. I would want to see credentials (with names). Badges can be counterfeit.

What exactly leads you to believe that credentials WITH NAMES can’t be faked?

lol, I once stopped a guy with a riding mower in his trunk at like 0200hrs. His claim was that he was doing his mom’s yard and he was a deputy from a nearby county, when I asked for his ID he handed me his credentials. I laughed and handed him mine and said something along the lines of-yeah if they didn’t look like a 5th grade made them I’d think they were fake. Ours were laminated and really looked cheap but were in a leather case with gold foil agency name embossed on the front.

Our badge to get in the door had our pic on it and looked like an ID, but it was just an rfid to unlock the magnetic door.

When I am working and am engaging with a person/entity to get whatever information, I am in uniform with a badge and departmental ID around my neck. If requested, I have additional credentials I carry in my wallet. I try to never do anything out of uniform, but there are times I do things in plain clothes and I will show all credentials to show who I am and I have the authority to do what I am doing. Some times I have had people want to wait until they email me at my government email and I reply and I totally am good with that and understand it. I would never refuse to show what I need to prove who I am.

For perspective, I am not a street cop. I am a state internal affairs investigator so sometimes I have to be in a suit.
