Got up early to avoid the crowds, do a hike and see the fall colors. Hiked in with my headlamp. Got to the overlook I wanted around sunrise. Only one other person out that early.
Had breakfast in an amazing spot. Took a few pictures hung out and then hiked out passing all the people coming. I knew it would get crowded with the changing of the leave and I enjoy nature without hearing and seeing lots of people.

Quick 5 miles on the Appalachian Trail. I going to try and get back out again as more trees change.

Just loafed around, played with the dogs, made pepper steak w jasmine rice for lunch then watch/napped thru Braves/Phillies game. Could have done some yard work but leaves are still coming down and grass is dormant dry so I'm planning on one more mow/mulch combination end of Oct.

Weekends aren't much different from weekdays and I'm happy hanging out. A recently widowed good family friend had rotator cuff surgery Thursday so my wife is staying with her tonight. Thought about calling an escort service and getting a twinkie delivered but will put some wings in the air fryer and spice Saturday night up thataway instead. Safer, and at my age, sadly, more fun. Cleaning and more cleaning. More work than I do would do at work. Clean and seal the kitchen counters Saturday. Clean and seal the floor Sunday.

Annapolis Rocks or Black Rocks? Would have been a great day to be on trail.

Annapolis Rocks. The weather was great.

Normally I will go to Black Rocks and maybe hit Annapolis Rocks on the way out but I wanted the view from the Annapolis section. Also been out to Bear Rocks and then back over 70 to the Washington Monument area when I feel like putting in more miles and I have the time.

Mostly, yes. It was the upper half of a (live) tree that snapped and came down last June in a friend's woods. I didn't cut it until late August. We'll see what the moisture meter says in a year. I've got plenty of seasoned wood for the next few years and would have no problem letting this sit as long as as needed. I'm burning some white oak currently that has seasoned for three years and it is fantastic.

Washington Monument is a great view. I lived 2 miles from there for almost twenty years while growing up and used to hike all over the area. Raven Rock Hollow to PenMar park is another great section. So much beauty in that area.

Not trying to be all negative, we found one good place with some of the beta hush puppies I’ve ever had and great atmosphere, we’re hopeful Baltimore has better choices than Annapolis. I’m sure I’m just missing the spots the locals would eat at, Annapolis is so touristy I imagine more places survive in their advertising and bar scene rather than good seafood.

We only went to Annapolis twice and it was those places so I'm not referring to it specifically. More around Ft Meade. We were at the Hideway all the time. It's pretty good.

My favorite thing to do was go to the fresh fish place in Odenton and get stuff there. Shrimp and whatever else. I'm not from Ocean areas so it was a new world for me.

I can't remember the places that I really liked for the most part. Mostly crab cakes seemed to be on another level. I'm easy to please though.

Met the wife at Dockside Bar somewhere near there. Their food was a solid 5 outta 10. Big Grin

Peruvian place right outside of base was good.

I never tried crap cakes, but I don't think I'd like them.
