Wife and I watched the local news tonight, as usual the female anchor had a perfect 'do. We wondered if they have to do their own hair/makeup? which led me to wonder about the big three news anchors, and their tonsorial requirements. Are there people willing to die to keep these people looking good??

Are you referring to the fact that the Hairdresser has to work during the ongoing events, or the fact they have to work with with these demanding news personalities?

I would think they have staff hairdressers and that business is as usual.

I see a number of the news ladies with a different makeup and hair these days. I have thought that the female talking heads are doing their own makeup at home. Judge Pirro said the other day she dies her hair from "a box"

Local TV talking heads have a professional Salon doing their hair styling.

Hair salon is a "Trade Out" and gets a 10 second TV ad each prime time newscast.

I never considered news anchors to be stars. They are talking heads who with few exceptions have no idea what they are talking about. At best they are TV personalities whatever that means. I rather doubt they do their own hair as it seems the TV network pretty much dictates their wardrobe which I would imagine includes makeup. I rather doubt that the hairdressers are putting their lives at risk since most probably they do not work in a busy salon.

I know one, a stylist/hairdresser to famous folks.

This fool (the one I know) gets flown across county to do people's hair before big parties and such.

You'd tbink they'd found the cure for Cancer to hear them describe it.

1% 0f 1% is not a lot of risk when you have to pay bills.

Funny this was brought up. My wife does hair for a living and this scamdemic has obviously killed her business. I was watching the news the other night and she remarked the weather girl had perfect hair that was obviously colored recently. I never would have noticed but she saw it immediately.

She has a bigger salon so they are not allowed to open, but if you are in a one or two person salon now you can open, so those people are cleaning up right now while the salons with 10-20 stylists have to stay closed. This whole thing is such a joke.

Our local news is the Manchester, NH, market and most of their on-air folks are looking shaggy. I guess you have to be in a bigger market to be able to look properly groomed.

Why can't they schedule 2 employees at a time, get open, and rotate? Sharing something is better than sharing nothing.

Just because you have 20 chairs doesn't mean you can't be a 1 or 2 person business.

Good idea. For a lot of people it is hard to think outside the box.

A good stylist is the one in charge and can work anywhere. I'd bet $200k is not unusual.

More intriguing is the weather gal with a different outfit every single day.

The tv folks here are not what you would call in a major market, the majority are doing their job from home , these days. From their appearance, I would hope that they are not paying a pro, for either the make-up, wardrobe or hair.

I can tell you have zero experience in the salon business. It's not worth it to open an entire salon when only one person can be in there at a time.

First, you would need to figure out a schedule. You would have to coordinate that schedule with 20 other people plus 3 receptionists (2 people a day, 8 hour shifts, so one stylist could work one 8 hr shift every 10 days). Then you would have to change your entire appointment system to reflect this new schedule and hope the stylist's clients can come in during those times (wouldn't be a problem for busier stylists could be a problem for less busy stylists with less clientele).

Then, you would have to pay a receptionist to sit at the front desk to accept payment since stylists can't do that (it's a lot of cash coming and going, like a bar, you can't have too many with access unless you want to get robbed). This schedule would have to be split 3 ways. Then, you would have to coordinate basic supply needs, color needs, equipment needs (because clippers break, hair dryers break, etc).

Oh and btw - with these stylists now working - none would be eligible for unemployment. With one 8 hr shift every 10 days they would probably clear around $300-$400 that day which is good, but they would still make a lot more in unemployment WITHOUT the Fed kicker. With the fed kicker they would make significantly more on unemployment.

So there's your thinking outside the box placed back in the box, lit on fire, and smashed into a thousand pieces.

Yeah if the government is paying you not to work why bother.

I understand it is complicated, but as a customer I can choose to go elsewhere. If other salons open, you will lose the business, maybe forever. I have run a small business for over forty years and Frank has run his business for some time as well. No, I have never managed a salon.

Exactly.

But this was a govt created problem remember. These people would normally be working if it wasn't for the massive overreaction/police state implementation.

I have noticed that the women on FOX and the local Chicago stations do look different.
I think in 90% of the cases the women look better now than when they had army's of stylists working on them.

Even with all the barbers and hair salons closed by our idiot governor, and threats to arrest anyone violating that, I've noticed his hair always groomed to perfection as well as several of the local news people. But I'm sure that nobody is styling their hair....right? I despise everyone of them for their hypocrisy and have told them so by emails.

My cousin is a TV news meteorologist in a major-market. It's been a long running joke in the family that she applies her makeup with a 1/2" nap roller. The only difference now is that it seems to be more sloppily applied.
