In the 6 prior posts, I can't find a single post critical of these folks or their project. Certainly not one person mentioned money.

I asked ZSMICHAEL who he thought was being critical and he doesn't seem to want to answer. I have no idea way he wants me to contact a dead guy, maybe he think I'm supernatural.

I would have suggested you contact Paul Allen who funded the endeavor, but he is not available.

Yes Paul Allen is (was) very instrumental in finding a lot of these wrecks and has a very deep diving submarine(s) and equipment on his mega yacht. So this is truly a story of the wealthy doing something good for the less fortunate.

Now the carrier Akagi has been found too.

“MIDWAY ATOLL, Northwestern Hawaiian Islands (AP) — A crew of deep-sea explorers and historians looking for lost World War II warships have found a second Japanese aircraft carrier that went down in the historic Battle of Midway.

Vulcan Inc.‘s director of undersea operations Rob Kraft and Naval History and Heritage Command historian Frank Thompson reviewed high frequency sonar images of the warship Sunday and say that its dimensions and location mean it has to be the carrier Akagi.

The Akagi was found in the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument resting in nearly 18,000 feet (5,490 meters) of water more than 1,300 miles (2,090 kilometers) northwest of Pearl Harbor…”

That is fantastic.

Does anybody have a link to good photos of either wreck? I'm really curious as to their conditions (both were devastated by fire and secondary explosions before they sank) but they seem stingy with posting actual photos of them. . .

Yep. On their own page are the same few photos in the OP. Maybe they're building up interest in a future PBS or Discovery Channel program.

^^^^

I figured they are saving their photos for a book and TV documentary. . .

I hope they join with Tully and Parshall (authors of THE greatest book on the battle - "Shattered Sword"). That would be outstanding. . .

Earlier they found the USS Wasp (CV-7) where she was sunk off Guadalcanal

This was a big deal for me as my grandfather was a marine on CV-7 when it was sunk.

I love they are finding these ships, and hope they continue.

I agree, that makes sense.

Pretty cool that they found these carriers. Maybe they will find more.
