More important, to me at least, is an ongoing question - what in the world does Trudeau have on the NDP besides their minority status? Joint goals but no cabinet seats? How in the hell does anyone take that deal? I don't believe for a second that that's all about a post-pandemic world, inflation and Ukraine since keeping Trudeau in untrammeled power can't do anything about any of those problems. I also can't believe that the NDP would essentially hitch its future and the future of the policies it supports to whatever Trudeau and the Liberals blithely dream up.

You and I obviously think alike because the same questions occurred to me while reading about that agreement.

The best I can figure is that the NDP and Liberal parties are more or less aligned, and the NDP is so ideologically driven that they expect to see at least some of their agenda is driven into law by the Liberal party, even if they aren't in power to make it happen to the full extent they would want. Or, maybe they hate/ fear the potential of the Conservative party coming into power, and willing to take a backseat to avoid that possibility?

I don't follow the details of Canadian politics, but that agreement is a puzzler.

EU Parliament member Christine Anderson is apparently NOT a fan of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. She even got a little bit of applause after her comments.

Nice that it was read into the record.

Yeah, he’s a disgrace to the human race. Canada deserves better.

But when your choices are limited to various flavors of dog and cow shit, it’s hard to get something you can be proud of.

Understood, but I still wish I knew what the specific bug up the NDP's ass is. If Trudeau could do it to the truckers, then he can do it to the NDP too.

not sure that would make much of an impact on him - his readers probably won't tell him about it

what would make an impact is if Canada's membership in the UN were suspended pending a review of crimes against the citizens

Canada introduces law to freeze handgun sales, ban look-alike toys

OTTAWA, May 30 (Reuters) - Canada's government introduced legislation Monday to implement a "national freeze" on the sale and purchase of handguns as part of a gun control package that would also limit magazine capacities and ban some toys that look like guns.

The handgun freeze would contain exceptions, including for elite sport shooters, Olympic athletes and security guards. Canadians who already own handguns would be allowed to keep them.

Punishing people who didn’t do anything wrong because some asshole did something awful is the epitome of bad governance. Trudeau is the best Canada can come up with!? That is so lame. Our government is run by fools too but damn that man always manages to do the wrong thing at the wrong time.

Turdeau has been on an anti US virtue signalling roll lately. He announced he would take refugees coming across the US border when Trump was cracking down on illegals. Then lately he reiterated that abortions would always be available in Canada after the Supreme Court leak. Now he is reacting to US shootings. Why bother dealing with actual problems in your own country when you have a global stage to virtue signal on.

I remember that up until now Canadian gun enthusiasts had some cool choices at great prices on firearms that weren't allowed to be imported into the U.S. Now all those wonderful mil. surp. options end and they can't even keep the ones they already have.

Damn the so-called elitists and their "all for me, none for thee" agenda.

I don't think they've thought this through.... unless they like having junkies on every park bench.

Canada to decriminalize some drugs in British Columbia for three years

https://www.theguardian.com/wo...h-columbia-overdoses

Canada’s government has announced that it will allow the province of British Colombia to try a three-year experiment in decriminalizing possession of small amounts of drugs, hoping it will help stem a record number of overdose deaths by easing a fear of arrest by those who need help.

The policy approved by federal officials doesn’t legalize the substances, but Canadians in the Pacific coast province who possess up to 2.5g of illicit drugs for personal use will not be arrested or charged.

The three-year exemption effective 31 January will apply to drug users 18 and over and include opioids, cocaine, methamphetamine and MDMA, also known as ecstasy.

2.5 grams of any of the above is a pretty substantial amount; I’m predicting the same failure as anywhere drugs like these are tolerated.
