Amid Escalating Protests, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Has Fled the Capital City of Ottawa
Things are getting craaaaazy up there in The Great White North, yikes.

I predict sales of safes and vaults will skyrocket aboot 3,000% there

Days after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he would invoke emergency orders to crack down on demonstrators by freezing their bank accounts, five major Canadian banks went offline on Wednesday night, as customers reported their funds were unavailable, according to technology website Bleeping Computer. Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), BMO (Bank of Montreal), Scotiabank, TD Bank Canada, and the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) were all hit with unexplainable outages on Wednesday evening. Users began reporting issues with banks around 1600-1700 ET, Downdetector data showed.

That little Commie prick is definitely up to something.

^^^ This is what happens when you threaten half the people in the country with de-banking. They act the only rational way they can, by taking money out of the banks...

Canadian Justice Minister David Lametti Says Supporting Trump Is Reason for Government to Seize Bank Accounts Under Trudeau Emergency Act

In a stunning admission for a government official, Canadian Justice Minister David Lametti admitted the political motivations for seizing bank accounts during a television appearance today.

Minister Lametti told CTV News today, citizens identified as supporting President Donald Trump are subject to “de-banking” as part of the Canadian government’s official target identification process.

During the segment, Justice Minister Lametti hedged and dodged questioning about what terms and conditions the Canadian government is using to instruct the RCMP and financial institutions. However, after equating the Trudeau order to the same principles around terrorism, the ‘Justice Minister’ finally said:
...”If you are a member of a pro Trump movement who is donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to this kind of thing, then you ought to be worried.”

What exactly Donald Trump has to do with middle class Canadian citizens asking their government to drop mandates is unknown. But the statement itself from the Justice Ministry of Canada speaks quite loudly to their political motives.

Notice how no one in Canadian government is even talking about the COVID restrictions and mandates? No one is even talking about the virus as a problem or any issues with the pandemic as a justification for continued COVID mitigation efforts.

The only focus of the Canadian government is addressing the protests against them.

Back people into a corner, take away their ability to make money or spend money and you’re not leaving them any options. You’re gonna what? Financially cripple them into compliance? Are you serious? When you take away everything, and people have nothing left to lose, all kinds of things they wouldn’t have considered doing before are now on the table. Unbelievable that we’re seeing this in a modern “free” country in 2022.

I haven’t been paying real close attention, but it is definitely now time to pay attention and learn.

Theft of citizens money under false pretenses is so socialist. I wonder if the people in country that supported this turd are having second thoughts yet, or are they just like our leftist trash that love it when the government bends them over while blaming someone else. Turdeau is playing with matches in a room full of fireworks.

It's better to take your money out before they seize it. Also, it puts the banks on notice that they need the people. If one person closes an account, they don't care. If half the customers do, it hurts them.

Has anyone confirmed this bank shutdown? I've talked to a few Canadians that I know well and they both did banking this morning without issues.

Sometimes it's necessary for something to become sufficiently broken before the realization dawns that it's been broken and needs to be fixed.

World-wide, governments have increasingly been insinuating themselves into citizens' lives and increasingly becoming more restrictive in the names of either "for the public good" or "for the children."

That trend needs to be reversed.

It almost sounds like a "show" of strength meant to both impress the truckies with the effect of closing down bank accounts and sow a bit of panic among them.

No, I don't think they're sharp enough to foresee a big enough run on the banks to matter - these are rich urbanites trying to manipulate working people from across the country.

That or some sort of system update as part of the plans to freeze accounts of political dissidents in Canada. There's no way all of Canada's banks just go offline like that at the same time and for the same length of time.

Turdeau is going to cause a "Go Galt" situation here I predict.

Is it time to invest in crypto?

Jessica Rose, Joe Mercola, the truckers, Ernest Ramirez, Epoch Times, The Expose, and many others have been screwed by traditional financial systems. Here what you can do about it.

Steve Kirsch

I’ve been absolutely appalled by what has been happening to people on the right side of the false narrative. People I know have had bank accounts closed (Mercola), accounts frozen (Jessica Rose), or money confiscated (Truckers and Ernest Ramirez).

There are now fast and efficient alternatives to using legacy financial rails, but most people aren’t aware of them. After Jessica Rose asked me what she should do to allow people to send her money but avoid her account being frozen again, I decided to write this document.

With the issuance of the latest DHS memo, I and all of my colleagues, could be considered to be domestic terrorists for speaking the truth when that truth does not align with statements made by US government agencies. Our funds could be frozen for years to come.

Bloomberg reports the Canadian Bankers Association confirmed the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has alerted banks to a list of names and made it available.

The institutions are reportedly still seeking clarity from law enforcement on how to handle the alleged protesters’ accounts, according to people familiar with the matter. But Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland said some accounts have already been frozen, the news outlet reported.

Under the Emergencies Act invoked by this week by Trudeau, law enforcement officials have the ability to arrest people for obstruction of roadways and disruptive behaviour within a no-go exclusion zone. They also have the power to seize vehicles and freeze the same bank accounts.

The emergency orders require virtually every participant in the Canadian financial system — banks, investment firms, credit unions, loan companies, securities dealers, fundraising platforms and payment and clearing services — to determine whether they possess or control property of a person who’s attending an illegal protest or providing supplies to demonstrators.

If they find such a person in their customer list, they must freeze their accounts and report it to the RCMP or Canada’s intelligence service, the regulations say. Any suspicious transactions must also be reported to the country’s anti-money-laundering agency, known as Fintrac.

Deputy PM Chrystia Freeland: "The names of both individuals and entities as well as crypto wallets have been shared by the RCMP with financial institutions and accounts have been frozen and more accounts will be frozen."

The problem with that line of thinking is this: Elements in every government, including the U.S. and Canadian governments, are doing their damnedest to compromise effective, secure cryptography. Cryptocurrency without dependable encryption security would be like putting your money in a banks with unlocked doors and vaults.

See, for example:

EARN IT Act Abuses Privacy in the Guise of Protecting Kids
It probably won't save any children, but it might mean the end of encrypted messaging.
J.D. TUCCILLE | 2.16.2022 7:00 AM

Governments have never liked it when their subjects keep secrets from them and they really don't like encryption technology, which makes it easier for people to conceal their messages from prying eyes. But the public hasn't been buying the eavesdropping that politicians are selling. So, the powers-that-be moved on to claiming that they're concerned about protecting the children and just incidentally restricting the use of techniques for protecting privacy. The EARN IT Act is the latest effort to invade our communications, and its advocates occasionally let the mask slip.

The Eliminating Abusive and Rampant Neglect of Interactive Technologies (EARN IT) Act of 2022 is ostensibly about protecting kids from child porn. "The bill amends Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act to remove blanket immunity from Federal civil, State criminal, and State civil child sexual abuse material laws entirely," asserted Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) in a press release when he introduced the bill last week.

Senate's Attempt at Encryption Bill Would Destroy the Very Idea of Cybersecurity
It wouldn't make a 'back door'-it would make a gigantic crater.
SCOTT SHACKFORD | 4.8.2016 11:30 A

The Senate Intelligence Committee's draft legislation to require tech companies assist federal authorities in bypassing the security of their products and software could have well been titled the "Shut Up and Do What You're Damn Well Told, Nerdlinger, Act of 2016."

Actually, it very nearly is. The short title for legislation drafted by Senate surveillance worshippers Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Richard Burr (R-N.C.) is the "Compliance with Court Orders Act of 2016." That's remarkably blunt for a bill title, but as with much legislation, it still manages to conceal what it really means.

Now, imagine what might happen if cryptocurrency started making any kind of significant threat to governments' ability to follow the money?

Beware of Trojan Horses:

Apple Delays Plan To Snoop on Users' Pictures
An encryption back door will lead to abusive authoritarian surveillance—even if you present it as a way to stop child porn.
SCOTT SHACKFORD | 9.7.2021 1:00 PM

A controversial plan by Apple to scan users' photos for the possible presence of child pornography has been shelved (for now) after tech privacy advocates warned of a future of oppressive government surveillance.

In early August, Apple announced it was rolling out a tool that would scan everybody's iPhone and iPad photos when they were uploaded into iCloud storage. Apple promised that no human would actually be looking at the photos unless a complex tech program found that they matched known pictures of child pornography. If the program found child porn, Apple would disable the account and send a report to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, a quasi-private nonprofit created and primarily funded by Congress.

Full article: Apple Delays Plan To Snoop on Users' Pictures

I guarantee you: Except on the part of the useful idiots myopically focused only on "But it's for the children!", nobody's doing this stuff "for the children."

Make no mistake: Governments don't like not being able to snoop on "their" citizens and they won't stop trying to defeat things that effectively prevent them from doing so.
