Mel Blanc screaming “Hassan chop!!!” had me on the floor. WB cartoons are classic.

airsoft guyRight or wrong, this is still America, where we have guns, and we carry them. Don't wanna get greased? Don't do shit that might get you greased. Maybe the store owner himself is some legal hot water right now, but that Natty Ice you tried lifting got you shot.
You got you shot. If only he'd been willing to part with a couple $20s, he wouldn't have gotten the 9.

BamaJeepsterI'd love to be selected for that jury. I'm sure the defense will have a plausible case that I could enthusiastically support.

JALLENThe 8 yo stealing a goldfish wouldn’t get shot as long as he didn’t try to drive away in a car. 8 yo’s in a car are a threat to life and limb. Everybody knows that. ADW at least. Deadly force imperative.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.
When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown July 19, 2018, 01:21 PM
parabellumI'd nullify that verdict all day long. The other jurors would be glaring at me, trying to shame me or brow beat me into changing my vote but they wouldn't stand a chance.

What if it was an 8 year old child who never did anything wrong but walked in there and attempted to steal a handful of packs of gum or candy? Would it be justified to walk out and gun the 8 year old down?
"Execution" is a tad bit dramatic, a tad bit
hysterical, heh?
It is very apparent the Hasan fellow did not shoot the thief when in park; looks like he shot when the scumbag stepped on the gas trying to escape after being ordered to stop.
Comparing this to an 8 yo child is a typical leftist trick out of a tired old bag.

arfmelSeems to me that some people’s lives are, in fact, worth less than property. A person’s property, of whatever type, represents the amount of their lifetime they spent working to acquire it.

Now, about that goldfish...
The goldfish analogy is plain stupid.
you're 1/2 way there!

parabellumNo goldfish were harmed during the performance of this riff.
We did, however, lose a washing machine. Couldn't be avoided. It pulled a gun on me.
No big loss, though. It was 8 years old.

How callous of you.
That washing machine didn't get to date girls, go to college, get married, have kids. To watch their baseball games, throw them birthday parties.
Life is so unfair.

Opus DeiIn most of the South, an 8 year-old Scotch can be tried as an adult.

Ken226The old saying, "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" fits.
I love when a stupid game wins the player, a stupid prize.
Its just my personal opinion, but with > 8 billion people on earth, some lives definitely aren't worth more than some property. Its a shame the legal system hasn't caught on to that.
If anything, we need to shoot every fucker who behaves this way. We'd have less theiving, fewer theives, reduce the population, and the remaining population would behave.

and if your going to use an extreme-end analogy, you gotta expect one in return! I wouldn't shoot the 8 year old, hes probably just stealing the 36pk of schlitz for his shithead uncle. He doesnt even understand what hes doing.
A goldfish who has the foresight to uparmor with a washing machine has definite nefarious intent. He needs shot immediately.

parabellumI love the fact that this thieving trash was just
sure he could steal with no consequence.
Well, guess what, genius?

justjoeSuppose it was Mother Theresa who went into that store. She's dead, but just say. And she went in to get a candy bar for... Mahatma Gandhi.. when he was a little boy... just say.... And he was dying of something... okay, cancer... and it was his last wish on earth to have a Snickers. So Mother Theresa, who has taken a vow of poverty and has no cash, goes in to the store to pick up a Snickers for Baby Gandhi.
And POW!! POW!! POW!!
They blow Mother Theresa's head right off her shoulders!
See how WRONG that would be?
So what these shopkeepers did was bad. Very very bad.

recoatliftEven if Hasan stuck that muzzle in the brazen theifs ear & went BANG, I'd find him not guilty.
He needed shot dead.
Ps. I must confess, I flushed my goldfish down the toilet when I was a little kid. I watched him swim in the bowl for a time, then pushed the handle.
July 19, 2018, 02:31 PM
HRKWe're gonna need a couple of jurors because when the acquittal is handed down by the jury on the criminal case, the civil case is coming after the shooter, the store, the maker of the beer, gun, tile, door, counter, lights, gas vendor and anything withing a 20 mile proximity to the shooting.
We need to change that law on protecting property... Tx has that part correct...

That's an interesting point, and probably one that we'll never hear on the news. I'd bet money that this wasn't Mr. Defor's first criminal action, and I wouldn't be at all shocked to find that his past includes some downright violent ones. Unfortunately, the court will probably find that it wasn't Mr. Hasan's decision to make.

IN THE OP:
Defoe has a criminal record that includes charges of robbery, domestic battery and drug possession.

GWbikerPerp's a big guy and thought he'd just stroll into the store, grab beer and walk out untouched. Probably done that before.
Didn't work out that way this time, I guess.
