Please Have A Good Thought For Me

V-TailPlease Have A Good Thought For Me
2010, I was hospitalized for what turned out to be diverticulosis.
During the routine lab work it turned out that my PSA was 27. Not a typo, that's twenty-seven.
After discussion with the urologist, and given my age (73) at the time, it was decided that radiation was a better option for me than surgery.
I got zapped daily for almost two months, PSA dropped to 0.3 but it has slowly been creeping up and last blood work showed it at 1.20.
I had a visit with the urologist a couple weeks ago and he wants to investigate further. Because of the reinforcing metal in my right hip / thigh, he cannot do an MRI. I'm scheduled later this morning for an anal probe -- ultrasound, probably biopsy. I declined the offered sedative as I don't do well with after effects, so this will be "cold turkey."
I'm concerned about the likely return of the prostate cancer. I could use your good thoughts.

Skins2881Prayers for good results. You are braver than I, no way I'd do that not sedated.
Good luck!

Sunset_VaI am wishing you the best of luck.
Sometimes as we age and go though bad health problems, we begin to hate all the medical procedures that keep us alive, I have almost gotten to that point.
You WILL be in my thoughts.

Been down this road!
I just checked to make sure, but PSA level of 4 or lower is "normal".
If you end up with "treatment" may I recommend the same treatment I took, years ago when it was determined by biopsy that I had prostate cancer?
I believe it was called Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy. IMRT.
Took 39 sessions, but no after affects from the treatments other than tired from all the driving to and from the clinic.
The system uses X-ray rather than hard radiation.
Cannot recommend it highly enough.
In any case, prayers that it all turns out to be what amounts to be a false alarm.
Edited to add:
https://www.mskcc.org/press-re...e-free-eight-years-lMy last PSA was 0.3. will most likely get another one on my next to the Doc. Scheduled quarterly check up.
