Does a relocated to CA, then ex-CA count?

I enjoyed two years in the foothills east of the Central Valley. Five acres of dry land overlooking a future inland sea (when the Big One hits) was costing $45,000.

Me.

Born in Chula Vista.

Lived in San Diego, Lemon Grove, Imperial Beach, and Vallejo, way back before SoCal went to pot. (50's early 60s)

I will be planted there, next to my father, but that is the only way I'll return.

Not too many years but Ballast Point, San Diego, El Cajon, La Jolla. Lot of visits to Whittier & LA.

Biggest memory... a beautiful state. Second memory- 650k for a "bungalow" house.

Third memory... 35 year old surfer dudes saying "Wow, man, freak me out, what a whaler"...

Lived in CA(Bay Area) from the age of 6 until I went into The AF at 19(1968-1981). Stationed in Sacramento for 3 years (1986-1989). Haven't lived there since. I still visit family occasionally, but will never move back.

My employer transferred me to SoCal for 3 years. Don't consider myself a Californian, but still have some good friends in Orange County (one of the sanest places in California).

I'll be soon following you, scoutmaster. Moved here when I was in my late teens and have been dreaming of going back to a state in the USA ever since.

I don't really consider myself an "ex-Californian" but I did live there with my parents as a child in the 1930s-40s for a few years and was stationed there by USAF for 4 1/2 years in the 1960s. Although the climate (weather) is gorgeous, I did not ever consider making California my home after retiring from USAF. (I ended up in Dallas, Texas.)

Left the Bay Area, born and raised, in 1985 when I joined the Navy. Did a three month stint of home town recruiting at one point, would never move back. Ever.

Ten years all told in the SF Bay Area. Left after college, kept looking for a reason to put up with everything involved in moving back, and kept winding up somewhere else.

If you ever find yourself in McAllen, down in Hidalgo County, Texas, you are not having flashbacks. It really is pretty much the same place.
