I've been in nearly every BMW assembly plant in the world (three continents), and by far Spartanburg is the most efficient, not only in $/unit of output but in hours/unit of output. Ditto on their quality metrics.

A great number of suppliers have set up shop in SC and neighboring States to supply BMW's immense operation - a lot of Americans are employed at Spartanburg and the related suppliers! Ask an employee, and see their pride in their employer... and particularly the SC operation.

I've also been in Audi's, VW's, and MB's operations worldwide - BMW Spartanburg is something special.
