“Idaho Governor Brad Little said in a recent speech that 'COWs' were one of his state's current challenges, but he wasn't talking about livestock. Little explained that the acronym referred to West Coast residents from liberal states, California, Oregon, and Washington, fleeing to Idaho. 'Our tax climate is a significant draw for people across the nation. In fact, Idaho’s real challenge today is the number of "COWs" — newcomers from California, Oregon, and Washington,' he said during his speech at the Associated Taxpayers of Idaho Conference, as reported by Idaho EdNews. 'We joke about it, but it reflects something real — Idaho has become a victim of our own success,' he added. The Republican went on to say that Idaho has become a 'desirable place to relocate,' noting that almost a third of the population moved to the state within the last 10 years. …” DailyMail article: https://mol.im/a/15357513 Serious about crackers.

Mad COW disease hits Idaho. Residents alarmed and demand government exercise containment and elimination measures. "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." L.Tolstoy "A government is just a body of people, usually, notably, ungoverned." Shepherd Book

Before long they'll start changing it too. "Why'd we move here? It was too expensive back in Caliwasgon, so many things needed a permit or a license too!" Later... "Wait, you guys don't have this service? How is that legal? That really should require a permit! There ought to be a law!" More later... "What happened to our freedoms? What happened to the quaint little town we moved to? Everything is so expensive or requires approval! That's it, we're moving to Montana!" And the cycle repeats.

It's a problem here in Southern Utah as well. Although I will say, the majority of those I've met personally have not been leftist.

It's a problem along the Utah Wasatch Front. Basically the continuous urban/suburban morass from Ogden, through Salt Lake City, down past Provo. A lot of new tech workers especially, on top of general COW migrants. They've driven up housing costs dramatically, brought horribly aggressive driving, and killed public civility. What was a strongly conservative, mostly Mormon, population has been transformed over the past 30 years.

Yeah you can see them moving in here all the time, so so many of them are komifornians and they all hate guns and the people who shoot them. We have a 99 year lease on our local trap club, and since they have been building houses around it, they are calling the police every couple of weeks to complain about the shooting, And there is a private pistol range behind the trap club, and they were there before the houses. The Coeur D’Alene trap & skeet club is right up against the airport, and they are building houses by it as well, so it’s only a matter of time. Archerman

I lived in The People's Republic of Kalifornistan for a few years work related. I heard of the Colorado Project right about the time/just after I moved back to civilization. Their plan was for a group of kali billionaires to move to Denver, hijack the city, install communists in political power, and turn a red state blue. Even Magpul split from kolorado. And the commies are repeating this pattern, with considerable success, all over the US.

So, I can speak with some real experience here. Born, raised, and still in the area after nearly sixty solar orbits. The first eighteen years of my life were in a town of about 2500 that was easily over an hour away from anywhere you've likely heard of. Mostly populated by the aforementioned Christian conservatives, that place is still around 2500 give or take, due to lacking any great reasons or catalysts for growth. Meanwhile, the Spokane/CDA area has exploded, making traffic a lot more of a slog than it used to be, but providing so much more to do as well. If you're the sort that prefers the good ol' days of chasing a hoop with a stick while dodging horse crap in the street...well, I've got some bad news. Doesn't mean I like everything that goes with it, but change is the ONLY thing you can always count on no matter where you are.

About 10 years ago, I was planning to move to CdA for retirement. Seemed like a relatively ideal place. Lots of changes since then and I'm VERY pleased it never happened - I think I'd have regretted it. Which, despite how unpalatable aspects of living here may be, makes me hesitant when looking at other places now. They may seem fine now, but may be no better or worse than where I am in 5 or 10 years. "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it."
