I may be entering a new careers as a travel planer. I would like to be able to only have to carry one phone so is it possible to have one cell phone that is able to have two different phone numbers. The reason is that I would only want to answer calls on my personal number that I recognize. By having a separate phone number for business I would answer that number all the time. As this business number would be published on the internet. The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution. 2 ways to do this. #1: Get a new phone line and then forward it to your existing phone. #2: Get a burner number like a Google Voice number.

I used to have an 800 number that went to my main number then forwarded the call to me. When I saw the home number I knew it was a business call and not a personal one. There are several ways to do this: There are dual SIM phones that would allow you to use two SIM cards, but the phone selection is probably limited as this is more common in Europe and Asia. You could also set up a second line and have it forwarded to your cell phone. The downside here is that any outgoing calls would come from your cell phone number. Or you could use a VoIP service or virtual phone service. The more rudimentary of these would be Google Voice, which is free, but there are others, which are paid and more feature rich. These either work by making calls over your data connection or by using an app that will call you and connect you to the number you wish to dial (if that makes sense). The biggest disadvantage is the number of moving parts involved and the potential to miss calls. If you're in a solid coverage area, it's probably minimum.

^^This. I've been using the second option for few years. Calls and texts forwarded from Google Voice to my cell phone mostly come through immediately, but sometimes they fail to reach me and turn into voicemail or text messages. Overall, it's a good solution.

You can get a Dual SIM Quadband phone, or wish you did. I wouldn't touch anything with Google on it with a thirty foot stick at night when I knew nobody was watching.

Supposedly, dual sim phones use up your battery faster than a single sim. You could get a second cell phone and forward to your main phone. Or get a second phone number. My method is to get magic jack. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." The latest Samsung S9 is dual sim capable, although you give up having a micro SD card if you want more storage. "When in danger or in doubt, run in circles scream and shout" R.I.P. R.A.H. I like the VoIP provider with an app solution. Our VoIP provider, CallCentric, for example, has an app. That way you can see who's calling and call back from your business number. Neither of which you can do with forwarding. "America is at that awkward stage. I have a service through GOdaddy that gives me a second line on my iPhone. Don’t ask me how it works, cause I don’t know... but if someone calls the Muzzle Works number on my website, it shows a Godaddy screen with the number calling. Costs like $5 a month. Apple is rumored to be offering a dual sim option in at least one of the upcoming 2018 models. Google Voice is a very good option as well.

I've been using Google Voice for years without issues. Separate phone calls, voicemails, and SMS. A bunch of other cool features like voicemail transcription, forwarding, etc. Bonus points... Free Google Voice calls back to the States while traveling internationally if you use it together with a VPN.
