Well, I heat with propane. For the first three years after I moved into my house it had a old school thermostat. I switched to a programmable one.

I have it set to heat the house to 69° from 4:45 AM to 5:30 AM, then turn down to 56° until 5:45 PM when it heats to 69° again until 11:00 PM where it goes down to 56° again (I like sleeping cool).

Doing this I have had a significant savings in the use of propane, therefore, in the long run I save money.

In summer it's set at 73° in the day, and 70° at night.

I paid for new systems in March 2019. Honeywell smart thermostats. Minor tweaks on temperatures to accomodate us being at work. Nothing crazy. Wife just told me that our level bill has been reduced $60 per month.
