I have no interest in this auction, other than the appreciation for the builder. Surely he has more into this than the $25k he's asking. Not sure what you'd do with it other than burn lots of jet A and make lots of noise! ;-)

With full afterburner, reckon you wouldn't have any trouble with tailgaters!

He really ought to post a video.

Remember the 1963 Chrysler Turbine car?

The ebay ad lists it as "turbojet," but it's not. It's a turboshaft engine; a very old one, with a single stage centrifugal compressor. Low power output, low gas volume. Those were helicopter drone motors from the 60's.

The truck uses its standard piston motor; the turbine engine in the bed is a show piece, would be plenty loud, and dangerous if not maintained or run correctly. Expensive, too.

But there is the cool factor.

Also, nowhere in the description does it mention upgraded brakes or suspension. Lessee, a "turbine" assisted mediocre handling small pickup with extra weight using barely adequate OEM brakes.

No sir, I don't like it.

^^^^ Jay Leno has a 24 minute video of one in his Jay Leno's Garage on YouTube. It's an original car like the video embeded above. If you're interested, it has old footage and the original promo. Very interesting. I don't want to detract too much from the OP's post, so I won't imbed the video, but here is a Link to it.
.

If you want to see some awesomely bodacious Jet powered vehicles, there are many big big trucks at the drag strips, look on YouTube. The evening/darkish videos are something else when they kick in and blast down the drag strip.
