Just looked again and they still only offer old man recliner bikes. They have been told for at least 20 years to make something interesting and they refuse to do so.

YooperSigs
Last year I went on a charity ride. I was the only non HD rider. It was not promoted as an HD only event. We rode from Marquette to Grand Marais. One of the best rides in the Yoop. Seemed like decent group of guys. But hard to say, since they did not speak to me. Not a word.
Pretty much made it clear I was not "one of us".
Maybe because I was not wearing a ton of HD branded gear. It was amazing to see how much HD gear the women wore! Cool purse!
And during the ride, I could not hear my own bike due to loud aftermarket pipes. And the ride was slow and boring. During breaks, their conversation was about much $$$ they had added to their bikes.
This is why HD sells fewer bikes. Limited (and declining) demographic with emphasis on "lifestyle" gear. And big money aftermarket add-ons. I looked at HD before I bought my BMW. The BMW had less weight. Much better performance, handling and advanced integrated control systems. For about the same amount of money. And to be fair, you can fall down a BMW "lifestyle" rabbit hole too. Its just more Euro. And since the purchase, I have not added a thing to the bike. It does not need anything.
If HD would make a comparable bike to my BMW, I would buy it in a second, in order to support a an American company.
And my old man rode a WLA in WWII. Be nice to continue the experience.

This is an Australian market 250, but if Harley made a similar version, lighter than the Street 500 I’d be all over it.

Not exactly like your Aussie model but they do have a 500 CC street bike...

HRK, thanks for that - but in typical HD fashion, it’s massive, fat, and bloated.

Give me a WWII dispatch/50’s Café racer style, without any of the pork.

"much better looking than anything new from Japan"

The exhaust system is hideous.

I think those are India produced. The wheels are ugly with a capital U!

You man, didn't you get the memo, parachute pants, big hair, Rick Astley it's all in again!

I think you're thrown off by the image size so I found smaller images to make the bike look smaller Big Grin

LOL, yeah HD is never going to offer super light bikes, although the sporty is sub 500 pounds, the picture makes the street look bigger than it is, it's really a small bike, also comes in a 750cc model, just a bigger engine.

25 inch seat height
492 pounds
87 in length
32 Rake so it's not out there, turns good
gets 64 mpg
about 30 HP but then it's a 500cc bike

Plus they offer a 100% trade in value
back against a new HD if you trade within
a year of original purchase.

heres the Street Rod 750

And just to prove you guys wrong, heres
a picture with a hipster that has a beard
with the street 750! Big Grin

As to manufacturing country, the US consumption street 500/750 were manufactured in KCMO, the overseas consumption bikes are assembled in India due to the massive tariffs on imported motorcycles in India, if not HD couldn't sell their bikes in India as the price would be out of the market...
