Being married to a vegetarian wife for over 30 years, her being vegetarian long before that, I have much experience in the genre. You could say my diet is eclectic. I might try some of this. I like the taste and flavor of jerky but I don’t by it for myself because I don’t care to pick the shit out of my teeth for hours or days during and after eating it. Guess that’s a strike against my man card.

I don’t look at these products as fake meat. I see them as alternatives to meat. Eating a burger is enjoyable because there is so much you can do to it with add ons, condiments etc. nothing wrong with alternatives to this for those that don’t care to eat meat for whatever the reason.

If those set on eating “real” meat are set in there ways, why don’t they draw the line and take a stand on only eating wild game instead of genetically engineered and chemically altered livestock? There is a significant difference in these meats and wild game is much healthier and even make one feel and perform better than commercial meat.

My diet is eclectic as I said. I’ll eat what tastes good and what I enjoy. Much of it to be sure isn’t healthy, much of it is. What I don’t do is shame people for their choices.

I am not BIPOLAR. I don't even like bears.

Never had this brand. However, I'm a jerky fan and saw It's Jerky Y'All in the keto aisle so I bought it. It wasn't until I got home that I realized there was no meat in it, but in fairness it did say "plant-based jerky" in big letters on the label.

Whale is the most disgusting thing I've ever had in my mouth. It's Jerky Y'All is second most disgusting.

Not that bad really. Most jerky is loaded with it so I don’t eat it.

It's funny how companies who don't eat/promote meat, like to make everything taste like meat. Next it will be bugs in the "jerky".

I won’t dump on anyone for eating whatever they want. I just don’t trust these meat alternatives. I will stick with real meat. If for some health reason I can’t have it, then I will go without it. Again, to each their own. If I have to be a vegetarian, then I will eat pure vegetables.

I'm not convinced it's healthy either. What kinda vudu has to be done to a mung bean to make it taste like meat. Typically when things are highly processed, it's not as healthy as you might think.
But I'm just a meat eating Neanderthal so what do I know.

This. I've done a bit of digging into the "Beyond Meat" and "Impossible" crap, and it is just that: crap. Contrary to popular belief, vegetarian/vegan does not necessarily equate to "healthy" — especially when it is highly processed shit.

These faux meat-like substances are the beginning of a war on meat. It is well known that the "climate-industrial complex"* wants to shut down the raising of animals for food, as they believe it - and the animals themselves - contributes to "climate change."

Might want to at least try it, as leftist will have us eating that crap soon enough. If the climate hysteria is allowed to play out, society will be transformed worldwide. We'll be eating what the 'experts' deem to be 'healthy' and 'sustainable'.

It's got a lot of good stuff in it. A bit high in sodium.

I prefer fava beans and a nice Chianti. Razz

I'm a carnivore and have no intention of trying plant based jerky. I've made my own jerky for years from beef, venison, elk and salmon, etc. It's easy to make whether you have a smoker or not. When my Big Chief smoker died I just used the Weber kettle to add the smoke and finished it in the oven. Good stuff and 10 times cheaper than store bought jerky.

I’d give it a shot. I’ll give almost any food the one-time try. I’ve had some veggie burgers from Costco that were actually pretty good.

Politics is the last thing on my mind when it comes to food.

It would be interesting to look at the nutrition label, eh?

One of the biggest myths is that fat (saturated fat in meat) is bad.
Seconded by sodium is bad for you.

Nothing wrong with a targeted plan based on your own metabolic composition and if you need to adjust one of the above to match then so be it.

However, the SAD (Standard American Diet) based on the "food pyramid" of the past is what is killing most everybody.

Real Beef Jerky has great protein content so what is the reason for a plant based version?
Except to dupe the masses that meat is bad and plants are good.
